Effectiveness of a kindergarten-based intervention to increase vegetable intake and reduce food neophobia amongst 1-year-old children: a cluster rand…
2021
Background: Children’s first years of life are crucial to their future health. Studies show that a varied diet with a high intake of vegetables is positive in several domains of health. The present low vegetable intake amongst children is, therefore, a concern. Food neophobia is a common barrier to vegetable intake in children. As most Norwegian children attend kindergarten from an early age, kindergartens could contribute to the prevention of food neophobia and the promotion of vegetable intake. Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the effect of a cluster randomised trial amongst 1-year-old children in kindergarten to reduce food neophobia and promote healthy eating. Methods: Kin…

Painomustetta ja pikseleitä : webnografinen tutkimus e-kirjoihin kohdistuvista asenteista
2014
Ideal types of online shoppers : a qualitative analysis of online shopping behavior
2018
Due to the growing popularity of online shopping, there is a growing demand for understanding the motives and behaviour of online shoppers. This study aims to increase this understanding by examining online shopping behaviour from the perspective of UTAUT2 theory integrated with self-efficacy and risk avoidance components. The thematically analysed data from 31 participants highlights the unique aspects of online shoppers by grouping them into ideal types, presenting the data as extensively as possible. An ideal type is an analytical construct used to ascertain similarities and deviations to concrete cases in an individual phenomenon. This study discovered five ideal types of online shopper…

Could a cooperation network between Finnish universities advance adoption and success of Green Office environmental management system?
2013
Finnish universities are increasingly adopting EMSs in order to improve their sustainability performance. Theoretical background includes studies on EMS implementation in universities and sustainability networks. Insufficient management commitment leading to lack of resources and time has been identified as a common hindering factor with regard to implementation of said systems. This study is an empirical research on the possibilities of an inter- university network in facilitating the implementation of the Green Office EMS. The study is providing answers to the following questions: whether a university Green Office cooperation network could assist the progress of the programme and in what …
Working the fields of big data : Using big-data-augmented online ethnography to study candidate–candidate interaction at election time
2017
The paper proposes big-data-augmented ethnography as a novel mixed-methods approach to studying political discussions in a hybrid media system. Using such empirical setup, the authors examined candidate–candidate online interaction during election campaigning. Candidate–candidate interaction crossing party boundaries is scarce and occurs in the form of negative campaigning via social media, with the shaming of rival candidates and engaging in battles with them. The authors posit that ethnographic observations can be used to contextualize the computational analysis of large data sets, while computational analysis can be applied to validate and generalize the findings made through ethnography…
Välimuistiolion tuottamisen keston huomioiva ennaltahaku
2016
Web-teknologiat kehittyvät jatkuvasti ja samalla on nähtävissä suuntaus kohti enemmissä määrin dynaamisempaa ja yksilöidympää web-sisältöä. Yksilöidyn sisällön tuottamiseen vaaditaan tyypillisesti käyttäjän tunnistautuminen web-palveluun, josta johtuva istuntotiedon käyttäminen web-sisällön tuottamisessa tekee lähes jokaisesta sivupyynnöstä yksilöidyn ja siten välimuistitekniikoiden käyttö vaikeutuu. Tästä huolimatta välimuistin osumatarkkuutta on mahdollista tehostaa ennaltageneroimalla osumatarkkuuteen positiivisesti vaikuttavia olioita valmiiksi välimuistiin. Ennaltageneroinnin ja välimuistin yhdistelmä nostaa osumatarkkuutta, jolla pyynnöt osuvat välimuistiin ja siten vähentää sisällön …
An analytical-numerical study of dynamic stability of an axially moving elastic web
2015
This paper is devoted to a dynamic stability analysis of an axially moving elastic web, modelled as a panel (a plate undergoing cylindrical deformation). The results are directly applicable also to the travelling beam. In accordance with the dynamic approach of stability analysis, the problem of harmonic vi- brations is investigated via the study of the dependences of the system’s nat- ural frequencies on the problem parameters. Analytical implicit expressions for the solution curves, with respect to problem parameters, are derived for ranges of the parameter space where the natural frequencies are real-valued, corresponding to stable vibrations. Both axially tensioned and non-tensioned tra…
