Utility of social networks and online data collection in nursing research: Analysis of Spanish nurses’ level of knowledge about palliative care

Introduction Internet-based social networks are used by nurses with different purposes, including the creation of working groups and to share and create knowledge. Purpose To evaluate the utility of social networks in the dissemination of an online questionnaire and to measure Spanish RNs’ knowledge about palliative care. Proposal of a neuro-fuzzy model of a WWW server

This paper presents the ways of designing simulation models of Web servers. At the beginning queuing network models are introduced, those models are generally known and often used in the initial phase of research on particular technical solutions. Next, an entirely new approach to the issue discussed is presented - neuro-fuzzy models, thanks to which, it is possible to automate the process of designing simulation models. The results of comparative tests of these two models are presented. Based on these results it can be concluded that neuro-fuzzy models are accurate and can be used in simulation research.

Given the rapid emergence of new mobile technologies and the growth of needs of a moving society in training, works are increasing to identify new relevant educational platforms to improve distant learning. The next step in distance learning is porting e-learning to mobile systems. This is called m-learning. So far, learning environment was either defined by an educational setting, or imposed by the educational content. In our approach, in m-learning, we change the paradigm where the system recommends content and adapts learning follow to learner's context.

REP2: A Web Server to Detect Common Tandem Repeats in Protein Sequences

Ensembles of tandem repeats (TRs) in protein sequences expand rapidly to form domains well suited for interactions with proteins. For this reason, they are relatively frequent. Some TRs have known structures and therefore it is advantageous to predict their presence in a protein sequence. However, since most TRs diverge quickly, their detection by classical sequence comparison algorithms is not very accurate. The categorization of amateur cyclists as research participants: findings from an observational study.

Sampling bias is an issue for research involving cyclists. The heterogeneity of cyclist populations, on the basis of skill level and riding purpose, can generate incorrect inferences about one specific segment of the population of interest. In addition, a more accurate categorization would be helpful when physiological parameters are not available. This study proposes using self-reported data to categorize amateur cyclist types by varying skill levels and riding purposes, therefore improving sample selection in experimental studies.
