Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in females, with a high prevalence. The etiology of this heterogeneous condition remains obscure, and its phenotype expression varies. Two widely cited previous ESHRE/ASRMsponsored PCOS consensus workshops focused on diagnosis (published in 2004) and infertility management (published in 2008), respectively. Imidazo[2,1-b] [1,3,4]thiadiazoles with antiproliferative activity against primary and gemcitabine-resistant pancreatic cancer cells

A new series of eighteen imidazo [2,1-b] [1,3,4]thiadiazole derivatives was efficiently synthesized and screened for antiproliferative activity against the National Cancer Institute (NCI-60) cell lines panel. Two out of eighteen derivatives, compounds 12a and 12h, showed remarkably cytotoxic activity with the half maximal inhibitory concentration values (IC50) ranging from 0.23 to 11.4 μM, and 0.29–12.2 μM, respectively. Internationalization and Faculty Well-Being in Liberal Arts Colleges: An Often Neglected Issue in East Asia

In this chapter, we discuss the issues of faculty well-being in higher education and in particular, in the liberal arts colleges of East Asia. In so doing, we draw on the extant psychosocial models of well-being. We then examine and discuss the findings of a recent faculty survey conducted in Japanese colleges whose goal was to tap into faculty members’ perceptions of their institutions’ policies and their own teaching and research regarding internationalization and liberal arts education. In the final section of the chapter, we make some recommendations for policies that will promote faculty well-being in East Asian liberal arts colleges.

Abstract This study examined the direct and moderator roles of recovery experiences (psychological detachment from work, relaxation, mastery, and control) in the relationship between psychosocial work characteristics (i.e. time demands, job control, and justice of the supervisor) and occupational well-being (need for recovery, job exhaustion, and work engagement). This study examined the relationship between job insecurity and turnover intention by applying occupational well-being (exhaustion, vigour) as a mediator. The study was inspired by two theories: the conservation of resources and emotional contagion theories. We investigated the relationships at the individual and work department levels by utilizing Multi-Level Structural Equation Modeling (ML-SEM) with the aim of clarifying whether the mediating mechanism was similar at both levels.
