My proposal presents a lesser-known study of Walter Pater published in 1923 (?) by a young undergraduate named Georges Duthuit (1891-1973). Hovering between different subjects, arguments, portraits, and disciplines, Le Rose et le noir was the first book-length publication of Duthuit, at the time having just obtained his Licence d’anglais (BA) in 1921, and about to embark on a career as a distinguished art historian specialized in Byzantine studies. Duthuit soon stood as a distinguished Franco-British mediator in art matters, a committed scholar and administrator and, later in the 1940s, an editor of Transition. During the 2019 Fire Influence on Regional to Global Environments and Air Quality (FIREX-AQ) study, the NASA DC-8 carried out in situ chemical measurements in smoke plumes emitted from wildfires and agricultural fires in the contiguous United States. The DC-8 payload included a modified proton-transfer-reaction time-of-flight mass spectrometer (PTR-ToF-MS) for the fast measurement of gaseous ammonia (NH3) and a high-resolution time-of-flight aerosol mass spectrometer (AMS) for the fast measurement of submicron particulate ammonium (NH4+). Baculoviruses constitute a large group of invertebrate DNA viruses, predominantly infecting larvae of the insect order Lepidoptera. During a baculovirus infection, the virus spreads throughout the insect body producing a systemic infection in multiple larval tissues, included the central nervous system (CNS). As a main component of the CNS, neuropeptides are small protein-like molecules functioning as neurohormones, neurotransmitters, or neuromodulators. A study of the chemical composition and biological activity of extracts from wild carrot (Daucus carota l.) seeds waste

Waste (wild carrot seeds, Daucus carota L.) formed after the industrial extraction of 96% ethanol were re-extracted with 40% and 70% ethanol in order to recover of valuable substances for potential use as a safe food additives and functional food ingredients or nutraceuticals. In this study we compared chemical composition and activity of two obtained extracts (70% EtOH and 40% EtOH). The results indicated that the 70% EtOH extract has a higher total phenol and flavonoid content than 40% EtOH extract. The antioxidant activity of 70% EtOH extract was 86.88 % ± 3.018, whereas of 40% EtOH extract scavenging activity was 78.72% ± 3.276. The extracts were also active against bacteria with MIC ag…

It has generated a substantial exege- sis, perhaps lacking in interest in the multi-faceted debates on belief running through the 1870s-1880s. Wilde takes part in that debate through a text of uncertain status and complex editorial history, contrasting Newmanian assent with W.K. Clifford’s ethics of belief (1877), before asserting the supremacy of desire, thus ruining all assent and epistemically justified belief. Characterization of aSchizosaccharomyces pombemorphological mutant altered in the galactomannan content

In a search for Schizosaccharomyces pombe mutants resistant to the antifungal agent papulacandin B, a morphological mutant was isolated. The mutant is round shaped in contrast to the rod shaped parental strain. This morphological defect segregated as a recessive Mendelian character and was not observed in other papulacandin B resistant mutants belonging to the same complementation group. The mutation mapped in the right arm of S. pombe chromosome III very close to pap1 marker. Mutant cell walls were more susceptible to alkali extraction and Novozyme degradation than those from the wild-type.
