The article offers a study about the artistic and eccentric personality of Eileen Gray, the Irish designer and architect. An independent, elusive, secretive figure, that with her creative instinct absorbed the French capital becoming soon, between 1910 and 1920, one of the leading exponents of the new revolutionary theories on design and architecture. Her thoughts took shape through drawings and models with which assumed full control of the material used and her notes, strictly in French, supported the rigor and the harmony of her projects, which made it possible to define her one of the pioneers of the Modern Movement.

In international, Italian, French and German public collections, but also among private collections, there are architectural drawings by the quadrature painter Tarquinio Ligustri da Viterbo, made after 1596 and depicting portals of his invention. This corpus is mostly unpublished and has remained anonymous for centuries. Inoltre le annotazioni ai margini della scrittura, soprattutto nelle loro versioni grafiche, costituiscono una forma di introspezione autobiografica assai preziosa per ricostruire il profilo del loro autore, se scrittore e disegnatore al contempo.

Problems in species recognition are thought to affect the evolution of secondary sexual characters mainly through avoidance of maladaptive hybridization. Another, but much less studied avenue for the evolution of sexual characters due to species recognition problems is through interspecific aggression. In the damselfly, Calopteryx splendens, males have pigmented wing spots as a sexual character. Large-spotted males resemble males of another species, Calopteryx virgo, causing potential problems in species recognition. The species composition of the genus Argyresthia Hübner, 1825 in the Azores is examined. Argyresthia brumella, sp. nov., is described and illustrated from Terceira and Flores Islands. Argyresthia minusculella Rebel, 1940, syn. nov. and Tinea poecilella Rebel, 1940, syn. nov. are synonymized with Argyresthia atlanticella Rebel, 1940. The high variability of A. atlanticella is revealed through the polymorphic wing pattern and the intraspecific genetic divergence of the DNA barcode COI in the specimens examined.
