Il saggio descrive molte delle opere d'arte del XIV e XV secolo esposte in mostra (dipinti su tavola, sculture lignee, oggetti in argento con smalti, cofanetti in avorio e legno), di fattura locale, italiana, cipriota-egea, iberica, francese e tedesca, tutte provenienti dalla Sicilia, alcune legate alla famiglia Chiaromonte. The essay describes many of the 14th and 15th century works of art on display (paintings on wood, wooden sculptures, silver objects with enamels, ivory and wooden boxes), of local, Italian, Cypriot-egean, Iberian, French and German manufacture, all from Sicily, some related to the Chiaromonte family.
Development of fast analysis methods for extractives in papermaking process waters

A fast analysis method with an online sample enrichment technique for the analysis of resin and fatty acids present in papermaking process waters was developed. This method was based on atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI) and mass spectrometry (MS) for the detection of [M-H]- ions of compounds of interest. The method was applied to the control of the most prevalent resin (dehydroabietic and abietic) and fatty (palmitic, stearic, oleic, and linolenic) acid levels in papermaking process waters. Molecular spectra of liquors as method of studying delignification process

FTIR-spectra of dried compounds of black liquors after aspen kraft cooks of different duration were obtained. Twelve samples corresponding to changing H-factor value in limits 4-1010 were investigated. The parameters of selected bands corresponding to lignin fragments vibrations were calculated using mathematical treatment methods. It was revealed that the positions and bandwidths of these lignin bands did not change. During cook at the first stage (H-factor values 4-200) their intensities strongly increased with different rates.
