Aristotelian Cross-References Network

2014

In this paper, I suggest to use the cross-references that can be found in Aristotle's works as hyperlinks. Drawing a map of Aristotle's works on the basis of these cross-references, it will possible to build an interface to navigate inside Aristotle's corpus and to reconstruct a network of the connections among several layers of his philosophical and scientific project.

Small and medium enterprises web page design: a qualitative study

2012

The present paper is based on the results of seven consumer focus groups developed in Spain. The results are interpreted using an ethnographic summary of each focus group (qualitative approach) and a systematic coding procedure (quantitative approach). The research pursued two major objectives. Firstly, to identify the key design variables for building a successful transactional small and medium enterprises (SME) website. Secondly, the transactional relevance of each key design variable was tested in order to establish priorities according to Spanish online buyers’ preferences. The findings indicate that a SME transactional website should have three main strong points: 1 it must be secure 2…

The use of Web analytics for digital marketing performance measurement

2015

This study proposes that the benefits gained from marketing performance measurement are determined by how an organization exploits the metrics system under specific circumstances. For this purpose, the authors review performance measurement literature and apply it to the use of Web analytics, which offers companies a metrics system to measure digital marketing performance. By performing an in-depth investigation of the use of Web analytics in industrial companies, the study shows that an organization's efforts to use marketing metrics systems and the resulting outcomes cannot be understood without considering the reasoning behind the chosen metrics, the processing of metrics data, and the o…

Building Brand Relationships Online: A Comparison of Two Interactive Applications

2002

Due to its potential for interactive communication, the Internet is considered a promising tool for relationship marketing. However, the effects of interactive communication on marketing effectiveness may depend on several factors related to each individual consumer, such as Internet experience. In this study, two of the most common applications for interactive communication—personalized Web sites and customer communities—were compared for their ability to develop consumer-brand relationships as measured by the Brand Relationship Quality (BRQ) framework of Fournier (1998). No main effects of the applications were observed. However, significant effects of Internet applications were found wh…

A survey of serendipity in recommender systems

2016

We summarize most efforts on serendipity in recommender systems. We compare definitions of serendipity in recommender systems. We classify the state-of-the-art serendipity-oriented recommendation algorithms. We review methods to assess serendipity in recommender systems. We provide the future directions of serendipity in recommender systems. Recommender systems use past behaviors of users to suggest items. Most tend to offer items similar to the items that a target user has indicated as interesting. As a result, users become bored with obvious suggestions that they might have already discovered. To improve user satisfaction, recommender systems should offer serendipitous suggestions: items not …

A two-layer security model for accessing multimedia content in social networks

2016

Content Management in Organizations

2005

Content management may be characterized as “a variety of tools and methods that are used together to collect, process, and deliver content of diverse types” (McIntosh, 2000, p. 1). At least three differing approaches on content management may be identified: 1) Web content management, 2) Document management, and 3) Utilization of structured documents.

Managing Converging Content in Organizations

2009

Content management is essential for organizational work. It has been defined as “a variety of tools and methods that are used together to collect, process, and deliver content of diverse types” (McIntosh, 2000, p. 1). Content management originates from document management. In fact, a great deal of contemporary content management system functionality has evolved from document management systems. Documents are identifiable units of content, flexibly structured for human comprehension (Murphy, 2001; Salminen, 2003). They have traditionally been considered as containers for organizational content. Document management considers the creation, manipulation, use, publishing, archiving, and disposal…

Integrated Domain Model for Digital Rights Management

2004

Digital Rights Management (DRM) is an issue of controlling and managing digital rights over intellectual property. It has recently broadened its scope from being merely a content protection concern to description, identification, trading, protection, monitoring and tracking of rights over tangible or intangible assets. In our study we found out an essential problem of the domain: lack of models on an appropriate level of abstraction needed to support research and system development. Modelling, identifying and describing the core entities enable the rights management functionalities. This chapter contributes in recognizing the principal entities and providing detailed description on current …
