New view of the corona of classical T Tauri stars: Effects of flaring activity in circumstellar disks

Classical T Tauri stars (CTTSs) are young low-mass stellar objects accreting mass from their circumstellar disks. They are characterized by high levels of coronal activity as revealed by X-ray observations. This activity may affect the disk stability and the circumstellar environment. Here we investigate if an intense coronal activity due to flares occurring close to the accretion disk may perturb the inner disk stability, disrupt the inner part of the disk and, possibly, trigger accretion phenomena with rates comparable with those observed. The confinement of finite amounts of ytterbium nitrate in the nanoscopic space of ytterbium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (Yb(DEHSS) 3 ) reversed micelles dispersed in n-heptane has been investigated by UV-vis-NIR, FT-IR, and SAXS. The analysis of the experimental data is consistent with the hypothesis that Yb(NO 3 ) 3 is distributed among reversed micelles as small size ionic clusters surrounded by the Yb 3+ surfactant counterions and anionic heads while the surfactant alkyl chains point toward the solvent medium. Physicochemical Investigation of the Solubilization of Ytterbium Nitrate in AOT Reverse Micelles and Liquid Crystals

A wide investigation of the solubilization of the water-soluble salt Yb(NO3)(3) in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT) reverse micelles and AOT liquid crystals has been carried out. After saturation of water/AOT/organic solvent w/o microemulsions with pure Yb(NO3)(3), the Yb(NO3)(3)/AOT composites were prepared by complete evaporation under vacuum of the volatile components (water and organic solvent) of the salt-containing microemulsions. It was observed that these composites can be totally dissolved in pure n-heptane or CCl4, allowing the solubilization of a noticeable amount of Yb(NO3)(3) in quite dry apolar media. Synthesis of Yb nanoparticles by laser ablation of ytterbium target in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate reverse micellar solution

Abstract Surfactant-coated ytterbium nanoparticles were produced by Nd:YAG laser ablation of a Yb bulk target immersed in sodium bis(2-ethylhexyl)sulfosuccinate (AOT)/ n -heptane micellar solution. In our experimental conditions, as highlighted by IR spectroscopy, AOT molecules are not decomposed by the intense laser pulses but play a pivotal role in the stabilisation of Yb nanoparticles. Abstract Reaction of lithium diphenylphosphinocyclopentadienide with YCl 3 or YCl 3 (THF) 3 and working lead to the formation of three yttrocene phosphines: the lithium metal adduct isolated as (Ph 2 PC 5 H 4 ) 2 Y(μ-Cl) 2 Li(THF) 2 · 0.5 LiCl ( 1 ), the chloride-bridged dimeric species {(Ph 2 PC 5 H 4 ) 2 Y(μ-Cl)} 2 ( 2 ), and the coordinated monometal species [(Ph 2 PC 5 H 4 ) 2 YCl(THF)] ( 3 ). The X-ray structure of 2 is remarkable in that the crystal exhibits two independent chloride-bridged dimers that differ in the arrangement ( syn, anti ) of the diphenylphosphino groups. Chelation of phosphorus atoms to a molydenum carbonyl moiety is also reported.

Spatiotemporal dynamics in the oxidation of groups IV?V metals: study of zirconium

Abstract This paper focus on the mechanism of zirconium oxidation at 850 °C by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and the interactions between chemical (oxide growth, phase proportion) and physical processes (oxide scale texture, mechanical stresses). The structural gradients in the oxide scale composed of monoclinic ZrO 2 (higher proportion) and tetragonal ZrO 2 were revealed by XRD at variable incidence. The spatial evolution of the monoclinic zirconia texture through the oxide scale was shown and quantified. Study on the initial stages of water corrosion of fluorozirconate glasses

Abstract The surface corrosion process associated with the hydrolysis of fluorozirconate glass, ZBLAN (53ZrF 4 , 20BaF 2 , 20NaF, 4LaF 2 , 3AlF 3 ) was investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), grazing-incidence small angle X-ray scattering (GISAXS), X-ray reflectivity (XRR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). After a short exposure period (25 min) of the glass surface to deionized water the XPS data indicate an increase of the oxygen content accompanied by a decrease of fluorine concentration. Correction parameters in X-ray fluorescence analysis applying the limit dilution method (LDM)

This paper is a study of the interelemental effect and its correction based on the mathematical model used to develop LDM in XRF analysis. A “compensation coefficient” is defined which is obtained from the quotient of the mass absorption coefficients of the problem and the standard (μs*/μp*). This coefficient compensates the effects produced by interactions between the analyt and the interferences and therefore acts as a correction factor for the interelemental effect within this theoretical model. Transient collisionally excited X-ray laser in nickel-like zirconium pumped with the PHELIX laser facility

The stoichiometry of blue vanadium doped zircon obtained by sol-gel methods

Abstract In this study, Sol-Gel processes in aqueous solution were used to investigate the stoichiometry of the V/1bZrSiO 4 solid solutions achieved by this method. Compositions with a formal stoichiometric defect in: (a) ZrO 2 ([ZrO 2 ] 1−2x [SiO 2 ] [V 2 O 5 ] x ), and (b) in SiO 2 ([ZrO 2 ] [SiO 2 ] 1−2x [V 2 O 5 ] x ), x=0.02, 0.04, 0.05 and 0.10 have been prepared.
