Nanocomposites with polyhedral oligomeric silesquioxane nanofillers - characterization of morphology, thermal and mechanical properties
2016
High-density polyethylene nanocomposites with hydroxy-hepta(iso-butyl)-octasilsesquioxane (POSS-(i-Bu)7OH) and hydroxy-hepta(iso-octyl)-octasilsesquioxane (POSS-(i-Oct)7OH) as nanofillers were prepared by melt blending. The morphological, thermal and mechanical properties as well as processability of obtained nanocomposites were characterized. POSS nanofillers were homogenously dispersed in polymeric matrix. High compatibility between nanofiller and polymer induced enhanced thermal stability, Charpy impact strength and melt flow rate for composite materials. POSS particles acted also as a nucleating agent for polyethylene crystallization in the nanocomposite.

Towards controlling PCDD/F production in a multi-fuel fired BFB boiler using two sulfur addition strategies
2014
Abstract PCDD/F abatement strategies – sulfur pellet addition and peat co-combustion – were tested for a BFB boiler facility utilizing SRF-bark-sludge as fuel. In this paper chemical and physical analyses of electrostatic precipitator (ESP) fly ashes were used to explain the differences in the performance of these strategies. These analyses revealed a difference between the coarse and fine fly ashes collected in the ESP. Chemical analysis of the fine fly ashes revealed high concentration of easily volatilized elements while the SEM micrographs showed that fine ash are composed of clusters of spherical particles, thereby leading to a conclusion that fine ashes were originally in a gas phase …
Experimental and Theoretical Investigations of Tellurium(IV) Diimides and Imidotelluroxanes: X-ray Structures of B(C6F5)3 Adducts of OTe(μ-NtBu)2TeNt…
2005
The hydrolysis of tBuNTe(μ-NtBu)2TeNtBu (1) with 1 or 2 equiv of (C6F5)3B·H2O results in the successive replacement of terminal imido groups by oxo ligands to give the telluroxane-Lewis acid adducts (C6F5)3B·OTe(μ-NtBu)2TeNtBu (2) and [(C6F5)3B·OTe(μ-NtBu)2Te(μ-O)]2 (3), which were characterized by multinuclear NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The TeO distance in 2 is 1.870(2) Å. The di-adduct 3 involves the association of four tBuNTeO monomers to give a tetramer in which both terminal TeO groups [d(TeO) = 1.866(3) Å] are coordinated to B(C6F5)3. The central Te2O2 ring in 3 is distinctly unsymmetrical [d(TeO) = 1.912(3) and 2.088(2) Å]. The X-ray structure of (C6F5)3B·NH2tBu (4),…
A library of monoalkenylsilsesquioxanes as potential comonomers for synthesis of hybrid materials
2018
In this paper we demonstrate a facile and efficient synthesis of monoalkenylsubstituted POSS compounds, i.e., R7(Si8O12)-alkenyl and R7(Si8O12)(OSiMe2)-alkenyl with a functional alkenyl group of chain length (from vinyl to dec-9-enyl, with or without additional –OSiMe2– spacer between the silsesquioxane core and alkenyl moiety) and with five types of inert groups (Et, iBu, iOc, Cy, Ph) at the POSS core. These compounds constitute a library of monosubstituted POSS systems, including thorough spectroscopic and thermal characteristics. These findings could be especially useful for material chemists applying the compounds as modifiers or comonomers for copolymerization reaction, e.g., with olef…
