Topological Hamiltonian as an exact tool for topological invariants
2012
We propose the concept of `topological Hamiltonian' for topological insulators and superconductors in interacting systems. The eigenvalues of topological Hamiltonian are significantly different from the physical energy spectra, but we show that topological Hamiltonian contains the information of gapless surface states, therefore it is an exact tool for topological invariants.
Classification of prefix aiz- ‘away’ meanings: from Jānis Endzelīns approach to nowadays
2019
The polysemic nature of prefixes in Latvian causes problems in prefix classification. Several authors in different time periods have proposed diverse prefix classification systems. In this research, three different classification systems of prefix aiz- ‘away’ are compared – the classification system created by Endzelīns (1971) in 1907, the classification system created by Soida in 1970 (printed in 2009), and the classification system proposed by Vulāne (2015). To ascertain which meanings are used nowadays the examples are drawn from the corpus. There are 11 prefixes in the Latvian language used in word-formation. In this research, prefix aiz- is chosen as it has a rich meaning system althou…
MODERN VOLLEYBALL ANALYSIS AND TRAINING PERIODIZATION
2018
The purpose of this study is to clarify the scientific approach to modern volleyball at men´s high-level and introduce the most influential studies, which still are not very well implemented in the world of volleyball. On individual level, requirements of modern volleyball consist psychological aspects like inner motivational and maintaining the focus during the game, which is difficult because there are a lot of breaks and successful and unsuccessful rallies in every volleyball match. Inner motivated player can push himself easier to the limits of his capacity during the game. Good focus and team routines keep the difference between won and lost rally small so that the player and the team …
Inocybe castaneicolor (Agaricales, Basidiomycota), a new species in section Splendentes
2017
Inocybe castaneicolor sp. nov., collected in Sicily (Italy), is introduced with full description, line drawings, and color pho- tographs. Its novelty is supported by both its morphology and molecular phylogenetic analysis. It is characterized by its castaneous brown pileus with an evident umbo and sloped margin, subfusiform cystidia and smooth subamygdaliformis to subnavicular spores. Comparison of I. castaneicolor with similar species is also provided.
The recent change in the Italian policies for photovoltaics: Effects on the payback period and levelized cost of electricity of grid-connected photov…
2015
Abstract This paper provides an economic analysis of the investment in grid-connected PV (photovoltaic) systems installed on the rooftops of buildings located in densely urbanised contexts. The analysis was applied to some case studies that were selected as representative of the latitudes of the southern, central and northern Italy. The returns of the investment in PV systems were investigated with the aim of comparing the impact of the current PV policy, based on the tax credit scheme, with the FIT (feed-in tariff) scheme, in force until July 2013. The cash flows related to the disbursements and benefits during the lifetime of the investment were computed for each combination of orientatio…
Tra tradizione punica e interpretatio romana: nota sui culti al Capo Boeo in età tardo-repubblicana
2021
Starting from the appellation of civitas splendidissima given by Cicero to Lilybaeum and from its relation with the juridical status of the Punic city after the Roman conquest, the aim of this paper is to reconstruct the topography of the town, with particular reference to the religious landscape. The most part of the data, as well as the information coming from epigraphy and numismatics concern the 2nd Century BC or, according with th common interpretation, the years in which Lilybaeum was under the control of Sextus Pompeus. Depicting an image of the “ciceronian city” implies an analysis of all the data, literary sources included, in order to establish which elements were still surviving …
Roman Pottery from Lilybaeum. Some remarks on imported products and transmarine contacts
2020
This paper shall focus on the pottery of the excavations at Marsala, in the s.c. 'Zona Mura'. Imported fine tableware was mostly produced in North Africa, although its types were widespread in the western Mediterranean from the middle Imperial period to at least the 5th century. Furthermore, there is a considerable amount of fragments of cooking pots among the catalogued material. The considerable presence of Pantellerian Ware is likely due to the trade routes between northern Tunisia and western Sicily.

A preliminary comparative study on the effects of pilates training on physical fitness of young female volleyball players
2019
Introduction: Volleyball is one of the world’s most popular sports and because of its enormous popularity many studies have been conducted in an attempt to understand the better method training required to develop fitness performance by a volleyball player. Among which, Pilates exercises have also offered new effective methods for increasing strength and enhancing flexibility. However, many studies have looked at the benefits of Pilates-based exercises only for low back pain and improvement of a person’s quality of life. Therefore, the purpose of this preliminary causal-comparative study was to examine the effects of Pilates training on some physical fitness components in young female volle…
