John Dewey’s notion of social intelligence

This chapter focuses on Deweyan understanding of intelligence as fundamentally social. This understanding differs from the common conceptions of intelligence as a feature of an isolated individual and/or as a possession of an elite. Starting with a look at the relevance of reconceptualizing intelligence, the chapter continues by describing how, according to Dewey’s theory, intelligence forms, manifests and cumulates in interactions. This article focuses on a young teacher-researcher’s beliefs about language and language skills. The research is motivated by findings of former studies according with which teachers’ beliefs are often relatively permanent and have a strong effect on their teaching and evaluation practices. The data consists of a teacher-researcher’s diary notes from storytelling events (n=19) in which storycrafting has been used with young primary school pupils. Reactions of Alkenes and Alkynes with an Acyclic Silylene and Heavier Tetrylenes under Ambient Conditions

Cycloaddition reactions of the acyclic silylene Si(SAriPr4)2 (AriPr4 = C6H3-2,6(C6H3-2,6-iPr2)2) with a variety of alkenes and alkynes were investigated. Its reactions with the alkynes phenylacetylene and diphenylacetylene and the diene 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene yielded silacycles (AriPr4S)2tiebar above startSi(CH═tiebar above endCPh) (1), (AriPr4S)2tiebar above startSi(PhC═tiebar above endCPh) (2), and (AriPr4S)2tiebar above startSiCH2CMeCMetiebar above endCH2 (3) at ambient temperature. Rośliny owadożerne są przedmiotem badań, nie tylko ze względu na charakterystyczny dla nich sposób pobierania składników odżywczych z otoczenia, ale również z powodu ich pożądanego oddziaływania na mikroorganizmy. W piśmiennictwie znajdujemy potwierdzenie, że ekstrakty z roślin owadożernych mają działanie nie tylko bakteriostatyczne, ale również bakteriobójcze i grzybobójcze. Do badań wybrano jednego z przedstawicieli roślin owadożernych, Dionaea muscipula J. Ellis (Muchołówka amerykańska), w celu określenia ich aktywności biologicznej. Self-reports are typically used to assess public speaking anxiety. In this study, we examined whether self-report, observer report, and behavioral and physiological reactivity were associated with each other during a speech challenge task. A total of 95 university students completed a self-report measure of public speaking anxiety before and after the speech challenge. Speech duration (i.e., behavioral measure), physiological reactivity, as well as speech performance evaluated by the participants and observers were also recorded. 1. The aim of the present study was to examine the role of NK1 and NK2 receptors in the control of mechanical activity of mouse stomach. In this view, the motor effects induced by NK1 and NK2 receptor agonists and antagonists were analyzed, measuring motility as intraluminal pressure changes in mouse-isolated stomach preparations. Darbā tika pētītas dažādas skolvadības sistēmas un to popularitāte Latvijā. Tika aplūkotas vairākas skolvadības sistēmas definīcijas. Tika apskatītas konkrētas sistēmas Moodle, E-klase, ĢIS un Mykoob. Tika aplūkota labās prakses piemēru kopa, kas jāievēro, veidojot skolvadības sistēmas. Praktiskajā daļā tika ieinstalēta un praksē pārbaudīta Moodle sistēma vispārizglītojošā skolā. Tika izpētīti Moodle sistēmas uzturēšanas un ieviešanas dažādi aspekti. Rezultātā tika iegūta autora izveidota labās prakses piemēru kopa skolvadības sistēmas ieviešanai skolā, balstoties uz Moodle sistēmas ieviešanas piemēra.
