Przemoc, narkotyki i bezpieczeństwo publiczne jako wyzwanie dla świata polityki w wieku XXI na przykładzie wybranych państw Ameryki Łacińskiej

W artykule przeanalizowano kluczowe problemy bezpieczeństwa publicznego w wybranych państwach Ameryki Łacińskiej, który to region bywa postrzegany jako przestrzeń szczególnie narażona na wyzwania stojące przed elitami politycznymi próbującymi radzić sobie z wyzwaniami współczesnego świata, w optyce społecznej, gospodarczej i politycznej. Zwrócono szczególną uwagę na kwestie dotyczące intensyfikacji przemocy związanej z nierozwiązanym od kilku dekad problemem produkcji i eksportu narkotyków.

Tässä tutkimuksessa tutkittiin Peurungan matkailuyritysten välistä yhteistyötä. Tutkimus on kvalitatiivinen tapaustutkimus. Tutkimuksessa oltiin kiinnostuneita siitä, minkälaisena asiakasrajapinnassa toimivat yritykset kokivat yritysten välisen yhteistyön. Tutkimuksessa keskityttiin siihen, minkälaisia mielikuvia tai kokemuksia yhteistyöstä oli toimijoille syntynyt, minkälaista yhteistyötä toimijat olivat odottaneet ja minkälaisena yhteistyö Peurungan alueella koettiin. Lisäksi haastateltavilta pyydettiin ajatuksia siitä kuinka yhteistyön tulisi toimia tulevaisuudessa. Haastateluun pyydettiin 43 yritystä, joista 19 haastateltiin. One of the hallmarks of the acute toxicity of 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a drastically reduced feed intake by an unknown mechanism. To further elucidate this wasting syndrome, we followed the effects of a single large dose (100 μg/kg) of TCDD on the serum levels of several energy balance-influencing hormones, clinical chemistry variables, and hepatic aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) expression in two rat strains that differ widely in their TCDD sensitivities, for up to 10 days. Physical fitness is crucial to warfighters’ performance in the battlefield. Previous studies have shown negative changes in their hormonal and neuromuscular responses induced by military field training (MFT). The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in hormonal and immunological values and body composition during a prolonged MFT and to find out how warfighters’ physical condition influences these changes. Investigating young Finnish CLIL pupils’ perceptions of foreign language use through visual narratives

Abstract This article explores how pupils in early CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) education perceive language skills and use. The participants were 25 French-medium and 16 English-medium CLIL pupils in Grade 2 (aged 8 years). They had received CLIL education since the 1st Grade. The data were visual narratives drawn by the pupils and some associated open-ended questions they answered in writing. The data were analyzed using visual and content analysis. Orthographic precision for word naming in skilled readers

Perfetti (2007) proposed that the quality of lexical representations affects reading. We investigated the role of lexical quality in decoding. Eighty-four adults read aloud words and pseudowords with dense and sparse neighbourhoods in a masked form-priming experiment. Individual-difference measures of language and cognitive processes were collected and entered into a principal component analysis (PCA). Compared to a non-overlapping control prime, we observed greater facilitatory form-priming for word targets with sparse neighbourhoods than those with dense neighbourhoods. Student-initiated multi-unit questions in EMI classrooms

This conversation analytic study investigates student-initiated multi-unit questions (MUQs) in whole class interaction. Based on a corpus of 30 hours of videotaped interactions from teacher education classrooms in an English-medium instruction university, we demonstrate that students use MUQs to introduce topics, either by recontextualizing some aspect of the prior topic, or alternatively, without these cohesive ties, which requires more interactional work to achieve intersubjectivity. Findings reveal that MUQs render student professional concerns more relevant and salient, foregrounding those inquiries as a space for launching topics.
