The expatriate’s family as a stakeholder of the firm : a responsibility viewpoint

In this paper we argue for the recognition of the expatriate’s family as a stakeholder of the firm during the expatriation. We demonstrate why the expatriate’s family can be regarded as a stakeholder of the parent company and what kind of a stakeholder the family is. Additionally, we argue that the parent company needs to develop and apply a holistic well-being orientation to show stakeholder responsibility in the international assignment (IA) arena. We apply the theory of stakeholder salience to the IA relationship because it provides a theoretical framework for integrating the family into the expatriation process. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli tarkastella nuorten leskiäitien perhearkea ja hyvinvointia. Tutkimuksessa pyrittiin selvittämään, miten leskiäidit kertovat leskeytymisprosessistaan sekä perhearjesta ja hyvinvoinnista sen osana. Tutkimus toteutettiin yhteistyössä Suomen nuoret lesket ry:n kanssa. Tutkimusaineistona olivat 19 leskiäidin kirjoitelmat, joissa he pohtivat omia kokemuksiaan ja ajatuksiaan perheensä arjesta ja hyvinvoinnista. Aineiston analyysissä hyödynnettiin narratiivisia menetelmiä. Parasites play a central role in the adaptiveness of sexual reproduction. Sexual selection theory suggests a role for parasite resistance in the context of mate choice, but the evidence is mixed. The parasite-mediated sexual selection (PMSS) hypothesis derives a number of predictions, among which that resistance to parasites is heritable, and that female choice favors parasite resistance genes in males. Here, we tested the PMSS hypothesis using the dung beetle Onthophagus taurus, a species that can be heavily parasitized by Macrocheles merdarius mites, which are known to affect adult survival. Huono-osaisuus työmarkkinoilla kasautuu perheisiin. Näin ollen voidaan kärjistetysti sanoa perheen olevan joillekin ongelma. Työttömyyden kasautumisen ongelman alkua on vaikea osoittaa, mutta kyse ei ole yksinomaan ympäristötekijöistä kuten paikalliset työmarkkinat. Perhe olennaisena sosialisaation ja identiteetin muotoutumisen viitekehyksenä levittää tavalla tai toisella myös työttömyysriskiä, toteaa Ilkka Virmasalo väitöstutkimuksessaan. Virmasalo tarkasteli tutkimuksessaan kotitalouteen ja perheeseen liittyvien tekijöiden sekä työttömyyden keskinäistä riippuvuutta erilaisissa taloudellisissa olosuhteissa vuosien 1980-1995 välillä.
