Vieraskielinen opetus yleissivistävässä opetuksessa

Kirjoituksessa tarkastellaan vieraskielisen opetuksen käynnistämisen syitä ja säädösperustaa ja vertaillaan vieraskielisen opetuksen toteutuksessa tapahtuneita muutoksia vuosina 1996 ja 2009 tehtyjen kartoitusten pohjalta. Lisäksi artikkelissa käsitellään kielen roolia eri oppiaineiden opetuksessa toisaalta vieraskielisessä opetuksessa ja toisaalta maahanmuuttajille tarkoitetussa opetuksessa ja pohditaan näistä tilanteista löytyviä yhtäläisyyksiä ja eroja. Huomiota kiinnitetään myös siihen, missä määrin vieraskielistä opetusta voitaisiin tukea nykyistä paremmin valtakunnallisissa opetussuunnitelman perusteissa. nonPeerReviewed

The focus of this paper was on a quantitative comprehension of temperature effect on the volumes of aqueous di-block and triblock copolymers, based on propylene oxide (PO) and ethylene oxide (EO) units. To this purpose, literature data dealing with (EO316PO94 + water) and (EO13PO30EO13 + water) mixtures were analyzed. The volume vs. temperature trends were rationalized on the basis of the (unimers + aggregate) equilibrium by taking into account the temperature effect on both the partial molar volumes of the unimeric and the aggregated copolymer as well as the equilibrium constant of micellization. The impact of children’s socioemotional development on parenting styles: the moderating effect of social withdrawal

This study focused on associations between children’s socioemotional development (prosocial behaviour, internalizing and externalizing problems) and parenting styles (affection, behavioural control, and psychological control), and the moderating role of children’s social withdrawal (as a temperamental characteristic) in these associations. Children’s socioemotional development (n = 314) were rated by teachers at three-time points (grades 1–3). Essays on wages, promotions and performance evaluations

This dissertation comprises four empirical research articles that use personnel data from a large university and worker-level panel data from Finland to examine the determinants of wages, promotions and employee performance evaluations. The first article employs personnel data to examine the importance of worker output and job seniority as predictors of employee performance evaluations and promotions. The results suggest that better-performing employees – with output measured both in absolute terms and relative to peers – were more likely to be assigned higher performance grades and had a higher probability of being promoted to more complex jobs than their peers with similar characteristics…

Application of molecular imprinted polymers for selective solid phase extraction of bisphenol A

Selective molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) with bisphenol A as template were synthesized using the non-covalent imprinting approach. MIPs were prepared using thermally initiated polymerization with 1,1’-azobis(cyclohexanecarbonitryle) (ACHN) as initiator and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) as a cross-linking agent. The tested functional monomers included methacrylic acid, acrylamide, and 4-vinylpyridine. The selectivity of the BPA-MIP for the solid phase extraction of bisphenol A was tested in samples containing other related alkylphenols.
