Factors related to the relative survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma in a population-based study in France: does socio-economic st…
2017
IF 7.702; International audience; The survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma has increased during the last decade as a result of addition of anti-CD20 to anthracycline-based chemotherapy. Although the trend is encouraging, there are persistent differences in survival within and between the USA and European countries suggesting that non-biological factors play a role. Our aim was to investigate the influence of such factors on relative survival of patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. We conducted a retrospective, multicenter, registry-based study in France on 1165 incident cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma between 2002 and 2008. Relative survival analyses were p…
Le tempérament équitable de La Monte Young
2011
Soft-skills and labour market outcomes : the case of young people French graduates
2016
International audience; Young people throughout the course of their education and training within or outside the educational system can acquire a range of skills that they may make use of on the labour market. Much research has recently been done into the impact of soft skills, that is, non-cognitive skills, on the labour market in connection with "people skills" that might influence employability. We have attempted to construct soft-skill indicators and then to measure their effects on graduate pay on the basis of a study of a sample of masters graduates having responded to the Céreq Generation 2010 survey and re-surveyed in 2014. We show that certain soft skills explain a proportion of th…
The access and success in the different higher education tracks in France for female and male youths of North-African origin?
2014
International audience; In France, the baccalauréat is the key diploma to enter higher education and today nearly half of the youths from immigrant families have such a diploma. What kind of educational outcomes can they expect in higher education? Our presentation will focus on the access to and the completion of higher education according to ethnic origin, social background and gender.

L’umanismo nell’opera narrativa e divulgativa di Alberto Manzi
2019
Alberto Manzi is a key figure in the panorama of the development of Italian language and culture. The analysis of his biography and his writing highlights the humanism that characterizes all his literary works and his pedagogical thinking. A fil rouge that underlies his life and professional experiences, an urgency of renewal that results in a concrete commitment against injustice and ignorance, in the expression of a new paideia, in politically engaged writing. He wrote many novels (Grogh storia di un castoro, Collodi award, translated in 20 languages; Orzowei, honored at the Andersen award translated in 32 languages), tales, articles, informative writings; he developed TV and radio program…
Effects of personal goal management intervention on positive and negative moods of soccer training center trainees
2008
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of a personal goal-based intervention on positive and negative moods among young athletes of a soccer academy. Study participants (n=22) were randomized into either a treatment group with a personal goal management program (Bouffard, Labelle, Dubé, & Lapierre, 1999) or a control group. Participants' mood states were measured every three weeks. Results indicated a significant post-intervention group difference on the positive and negative moods states in favor of the treatment group. A significant within-group difference over time was also found for the treatment group. Methodological and applied suggestions are made to develop means to suppo…
Depth-of-Field of the Accommodating Eye
2014
Our eyes project information from a three-dimensional world to a basically two-dimensional surface, corresponding to the photoreceptor plane in the retina. In theory, only one plane or surface of world can be in focus at one time. However, the eye exhibits a certain tolerance to out-of-focus images, a feature that is known as depth-of-focus (DOF). The corresponding distance range in which the objects are seen “clearly” is known as depth-of-field (DOFi). Although DOF and DOFi refer to an interval of distances or a dioptric range in the image and object space, respectively, both parameters define a similar concept and are usually interchangeable. This article will mainly refer to DOFi because…
The magnetosphere of the close accreting PMS binary V4046 Sgr
2013
V4046 Sagittarii AB is a close short-period classical T Tauri binary. It is a circularised and synchronised system accreting from a circumbinary disk. In 2009 it was observed as part of a coordinated program involving near-simultaneous spectropolarimetric observations with ESPaDOnS at the Canada-France-Hawai'i Telescope and high-resolution X-ray observations with XMM-Newton. Magnetic maps of each star were derived from Zeeman-Doppler imaging. After briefly highlighting the most significant observational findings, we present a preliminary 3D model of the binary magnetosphere constructed from the magnetic maps using a newly developed binary magnetic field extrapolation code. The large-scale f…
