This study examines the occupational competence and attitudes that small business entrepreneurs consider essential to their work. Small business entrepreneurs were given an opportunity to express their views in small focus groups of peer entrepreneurs. Consensus opinions formulated by the groups were then meticulously documented. The results expose the very core or soul of entrepreneurial competence and attitudes by determining what small business entrepreneurs feel they must be able to do. Business owners, employees, and firm performance

The novel Finnish Longitudinal OWNer-Employer-Employee (FLOWN) database was used to analyze how the characteristics of owners and employees relate to firm performance as determined by labor productivity, survival, and employment growth. Focusing on the role of the employment history, the results show that previous experience in a high-productivity firm strongly predicts high productivity and probability of survival for the entrepreneur’s new firm. This can be interpreted as evidence of knowledge spillovers through labor mobility of both the owners and the employees. Tämä tutkimus käsittelee Helsingissä liiketoimintaansa harjoittavien maahanmuuttajayrittäjien englannin kielen käyttöä liiketoiminnassaan ja sen ulkopuolella.Tutkimus peilaa myös englannin kielen yleistä roolia Suomessa sekä etenkin Helsingin alueella. Maahanmuuttajien ja maahanmuuttajayrittäjien kielenkäyttöä on tutkittu Suomessa aiemmin lähinnä suomen kielen kannalta ja hyvin laajalla tasolla. Tässä pro gradu -tutkielmassa kuvataan Kelan vaikeavammaisten lääkinnällisen kuntoutuksen palveluntuottajana toimivien musiikkiterapeuttien toimintaa ja sijoittumista yhteiskunnan kuntoutuspalvelujärjestelmään vuosien 2012–2014 välisenä aikana. Lisäksi tutkielmassa tarkastellaan musiikkiterapeuttien kokemuksia kuntoutustyöstä ja yhteistyöstä Kelan ja muiden yhteistyötahojen kanssa. Abstract Background Associations between retirement characteristics and consequent physical functioning (PF) are poorly understood, particularly in higher socioeconomic groups, where postponing retirement has had both positive and negative implications for PF. Methods Multiple assessments of PF, the first of which at the mean age of 73.3 years, were performed on 1709 men who were retired business executives and managers, using the RAND-36/SF-36 instrument, between 2000 and 2010.
