Structural and magnetic diversity in metal-dicyanamido polymer moieties: Paramagnetic and antiferromagnetic 1D chain compound and weakly ferromagneti…

2009

Abstract The reaction of M(NO 3 ) 2 · x H 2 O (M = Cu, Ni and Co; x  = 3 for Cu and x  = 6 for Co/Ni), imidazole (Im) and sodium dicyanamide (dca) afforded the complexes [M(Im) 2 (dca) 2 ] (where M = Cu for 1 , M = Ni for 2 , and M = Co for 3 ). All of them have been characterized structurally by single crystal X-ray diffraction measurements. X-ray analysis reveals that the dicyanamido ligand features the μ 1,3 bridging mode that led to the formation of two-dimensional structure of complex 1 while complexes 2 and 3 attribute an infinite one-dimensional chain like structure to generate the fascinating molecular assemblies. The {N(CN) 2 } − ligands present in the complexes 2 and 3 are coordin…

2007

Reactions of Ni(O 2 CMe) 2 ·4H 2 O or NiCl 2 ·6H 2 O, 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole (abpt) and NaN 3 or KSCN in different molar ratios heated under reflux or hydrothermal conditions generate a mononuclear species with dimorphous phases, a dinuclear species incorporating an in situ deaminated [bpt-H] - ligand and a tetranuclear rectangle box incorporating an unprecedented μ:η 1 :η 2 :η 1 coordination mode of the deprotonated [abpt-H] - ligand. Structural analysis reveals that a pair of [Ni 2 (μ 1,1 -N 3 )(μ-OAc)] motifs in [Ni 4 (abpt) 2 -(abpt-H)(N3) 5 (Ο 2 CMe) 2 ]·5H 2 O (1) are bridged by two abpt and one [abpt-H] - units into a rectangle box. [Ni 2 (bpt-H) 2 -(SCN) 2 (H 2…

2014

Abstract This paper reports the synthesis, X-ray structure and magnetic characterization of [Mn 2 Cl(BIP) (HBIMAM)(H 2 O) 5 ]Cl 3 ·4H 2 O a novel dinuclear manganese(II) incorporating two related bis(imidazolyl)-based ligands, BIP (3,3-di(2-1 H -2-imidazolyl)propanoate) and BIMAM ( N -methyldi(1 H -2-imidazolyl)methanamine). The metal atoms in the dinuclear entity are bridged by a μ 2 -η 1 :η 1 carboxylate group (from the propionate arm of the BIP ligand) acting in an anti – anti coordination bridging mode, with an intramolecular Mn⋯Mn distance of 6.47 A. The coordination around the Mn(II) ions shows a distorted octahedral geometry for both MnClN 2 O 3 and MnN 2 O 4 chromophores. Between th…

Etherification of Functionalized Phenols with Chloroheteroarenes at Low Palladium Loading: Theoretical Assessment of the Role of Triphosphane Ligands…

2011

The present study highlights the potential of robust tridentate ferrocenylphosphanes with controlled conformation as catalytic auxiliaries in CO bond formation reactions. Air-stable palladium triphosphane systems are efficient for selective heteroaryl ether synthesis by using as little as 0.2 mol% of catalyst. These findings represent an economically attractive and clean etherification of functionalized phenols, electron-rich, electron-poor and para-, meta- or ortho-substituted substrates, with heteroaryl chlorides, including pyridines, hydroxylated pyridine, pyrimidines and thiazole. The etherification tolerates very important functions in various positions, such as cyano, methoxy, amino, …

Electrochromic polyoxometalate material as a sensor of bacterial activity

2015

L. fermentum, a bacterium of human microbiota, acts as an electron donor to the electrochromic [P2MoVI18O62]6. Since, the reductive capacity of L. fermentum correlates with its metabolic activity, the reaction with [P2MoVI18O62]6- affords a means of evaluating its activity. Following this logic, we have concluded that vancomycin severely affects the activity of L. fermentum whereas omeprazole does not.

The use of cultured hepatocytes to investigate the metabolism of drugs and mechanisms of drug hepatotoxicity.

2001

Hepatotoxins can be classified as intrinsic when they exert their effects on all individuals in a dose-dependent manner, and as idiosyncratic when their effects are the consequence of an abnormal metabolism of the drug by susceptible individuals (metabolic idiosyncrasy) or of an immune-mediated injury to hepatocytes (allergic hepatitis). Some xenobiotics are electrophilic, and others are biotransformed by the liver into highly reactive metabolites that are usually more toxic than the parent compound. This activation process is the key to many hepatotoxic phenomena. Mitochondria are a frequent target of hepatotoxic drugs, and the alteration of their function has immediate effects on the ene…

Effect of some hexahydroimidazo[1,2-c]pyrimidines in inflammatory responses involving leucocytes and macrophages.

2001

Abstract We have studied the effects of some hexahydroimidazo[1,2-c]pyrimidine derivatives (HIPs) on leucocyte functions in-vitro and we have assayed the anti-inflammatory activity of these compounds in two models of inflammation. All HIPs inhibited the human neutrophil degranulation process and superoxide generation at concentrations in the μM range. In mouse peritoneal macrophages stimulated with lipopolysaccharide, HIP-4 and HIP-5 inhibited nitrite production without affecting prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) accumulation. HIP-4 was also active in the zymosan-injected mouse air pouch model (at 100 nmol/pouch), with significant reductions in leucocyte migration and PGE2 and leukotriene B4 levels i…

Neuroendocrine Modulation of IL-27 in Macrophages

2017

Abstract Heterodimeric IL-27 (p28/EBV-induced gene 3) is an important member of the IL-6/IL-12 cytokine family. IL-27 is predominantly synthesized by mononuclear phagocytes and exerts immunoregulatory functional activities on lymphocytic and nonlymphocytic cells during infection, autoimmunity or neoplasms. There is a great body of evidence on the bidirectional interplay between the autonomic nervous system and immune responses during inflammatory disorders, but so far IL-27 has not been defined as a part of these multifaceted neuroendocrine networks. In this study, we describe the role of catecholamines (as mediators of the sympathetic nervous system) related to IL-27 production in primary …

Flow cytometric investigation of neutrophil oxidative burst and apoptosis in physiological and pathological situations

2009

Flow cytometric analysis provides a rapid screen for abnormalities of polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMN) function and reflect their behavior in vivo more accurately. This review summarizes the major fluorescent probes used to study PMN oxidative burst and apoptosis using flow cytometry (FCM). We also provide examples of FCM studies in physiological and pathological situations, illustrating the advantages of FCM for assessment of PMN oxidative burst and PMN apoptosis. These data point to the role of FCM in detecting primary immunodeficiencies such as IRAK4 deficiency and support the use of the assessment of the PMN oxidative burst for routine testing in patients with bacterial infections.
