Decreased benzodiazepine receptor binding in panic disorder measured by IOMAZENIL-SPECT. A preliminary report.

Single photon emission tomography (SPECT) imaging of the central benzodiazepine receptor (BZr) became possible with the newly developed ligand 123I-IOMAZENIL. The BZr binding was investigated in ten patients with panic disorder (PP) compared to ten epileptic patients (EP). Panic patients had lower IOMAZENIL uptake rates in the frontal, occipital and temporal cortex than EP indicating the involvement of the BZr complex in panic disorder.

GOALS AND BACKGROUND: The multikinase inhibitor sorafenib provides survival benefit for patients with advanced hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and liver cirrhosis (LCI) Child-Pugh A. We report our experiences with sorafenib in advanced HCC, particularly in patients with LCI Child-Pugh B/C, where only limited data are available in regard to safety and efficacy of sorafenib. Risk assessment of benzene in food samples of Iran's market

Abstract The concentration of benzene in ninety-eight collected food and drink samples (carbonated beverage, fruit juice, pickle, lime juice, mayonnaise and salad dressing, 16 samples from each) from Iran local markets were investigated using gas chromatography equipped with flame ionization detector (GC-FID). Moreover, the correlation of benzene concentration with sodium benzoate and ascorbic acid concentrations was assessed. Primary tumours of the pulmonary arteries are rare neoplasms seldom diagnosed during the patient's life time. We report on two cases of pulmonary artery sarcomas diagnosed during life time of the respective patients in intra-operative frozen sections by histopathological examination. Case 1 was of a 55-year-old man with a fibrosarcoma originating from the main pulmonary trunk. Case 2 was of a 43-year-old woman with a malignant fibrous histiocytoma originating from the right pulmonary artery. OBJECTIVES: To assess serum concentrations of several organochlorine contaminants in general population living in a city with an ancient agricultural tradition and to identify possible exposure sources in Sicily.
