This article focuses on the concept of the citizen-consumer to examine the role of consumption as a tool for environmental sustainability. An ethical view of both citizenship and consumption is introduced to assess the potential of the citizen-consumer as an agent for socio-environmental change. To this end, the notions of ecological citizenship and sustainable consumption are used as a framework for analysis. Ecological citizenship is described as an ethical account of citizenship aimed at changing behaviours and attitudes, and spreading environmental values. Citizen Engagement and Entrepreneurship: Implications for Sustainable Tourism Development

Research has not investigated the use of competitions-hackathons as a citizen engagement tool to motivate and activate citizen's engagement in entrepreneurship driving sustainable tourism development. This paper fills in this gap by using the SHARE Challenge as a case study. SHARE is a competition-based crowdsourcing project launched by the Government of South Australia aiming to engage citizens in sharing economy entrepreneurial ventures. A synergic nanoantioxidant based on covalently modified halloysite–trolox nanotubes with intra-lumen loaded quercetin

We describe the preparation and properties of the first example of a synergic nanoantioxidant, obtained by different functionalizations of the external surface and the inner lumen of halloysite nanotubes (HNTs). Precipitation of potassium as hazenite from washing water of spent alkaline batteries

Hazenite (KNaMg2(PO4)2 × 14 H2O), a new type of struvite mineral, was precipitated from the potassium-rich washing water of spent alkaline battery black mass. Hazenite can be used as a fertilizer, which would be an additional benefit derived from the sustainable recovery of battery materials. Precipitation experiments were performed using different pH values (9.5–12), Mg:K:PO4 ratios ((1.0–1.5):1:(1.0–1.5)) and temperatures (10–40 °C). Narażenie na zanieczyszczenia zawarte w pyłach PM10 i PM2,5 drogami wchłaniania: inhalacyjną, dermalną i pokarmową

W artykule zaprezentowano wyniki pomiarów stężeń pyłu PM10 w powietrzu atmosferycznym wraz z zawartymi metalami ciężkimi (arsenem, kadmem, niklem i ołowiem). Przeanalizowano dane z okresu 2016-2020 dla ośmiu stacji monitoringu jakości powietrza zlokalizowanych w województwie śląskim. Wyniki pomiarów dotyczyły stężeń średniorocznych uzyskanych z rejestru Głównego Inspektoratu Ochrony Środowiska. Najwyższe stężenia pyłu PM10 odnotowano w latach 2016 i 2017, sięgały one 160 μg/m3 przekraczając tym samym wartość dopuszczalną (40 μg/m3) prawie 4-krotnie.
