Splenogonadal Fusion: A Genetic Disorder?—Report of a Case and Review of the Literature

Splenogonadal fusion is a rare congenital anomaly in which there is fusion between the spleen and gonad, epididymis or vas. We treated a patient with scrotal mass. A discontinuous fusion between the spleen and epididymis was found: after frozen section mass was excised sparing testis. Although rare, the splenogonadal fusion should be considered in the differential diagnosis of scrotal masses in children, and orchiectomy should be avoided. Moreover, examination of siblings showed a brother affected from accessory spleen. This finding, not reported previously to our knowledge, suggests a possible familiarity of this disorder. The article contributes to sustainability transition research by indicating the significance of transformative grassroots innovations in the context of social work research. We introduce the integrative concept of ecosocial innovation in order to demonstrate how grassroots innovations can successfully combine social, ecological and economic aspects of a sustainability transition. By ecosocial innovations, we refer to social innovations with a strong ecological orientation (e.g., recycling workshops, urban gardening, participatory unemployment projects and new local economies). With the aid of CERES/TRMM (Clouds and the Earth's Radiant Energy System/Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission) data, sampling problems that may impact the construction of anisotropic models have been investigated. We show the influence of the sun-orbit geometry, which causes a lack of measurements in forward and backward scattering directions at large viewing zenith angles, and how cloud properties retrieval algorithms as obtained from the Visible Infrared Scanner (VIRS) also affect sampling. The design of digital zenith camera was started in 2010 by Institute of Geodesy and Geoinformatics. Since then the prototype of digital zenith camera has been developed. Now, after improvements of design and manufacturing of the second version, it has reached operational status. This paper describes the construction of zenith camera and features of its control software. The results of vertical deflections' measurements are discussed. At the moment measurements are done in Riga region and are used in DFHRS v.4.3 software in order to check and improve local quasigeoid model. This paper pays particular attention to one of the many participatory models present in the landscape of urban and territorial planning. Specifically, the ACTION PLANNING model was chosen; a model used in Anglo-Saxon countries to identify the problems and needs of the inhabitants of a given territory, through the involvement of interested parties or stakeholders. Abstract Due to worker׳s exposure, solvent and stationary phases׳ consumption, sample purification is one of the most polluting steps in analytical procedures for determination of organic pollutants in real samples. The use of photochemical sample treatment represents a valid alternative methodology for extracts clean up allowing for a reduction of the used amount of organic solvents. In this paper we report the first application on the photolytic destruction of organic substances to eliminate some of the interferences in the analysis of Chlorobenzenes in sediment samples.
