Scientists have warned decision-makers about the severe consequences of the global environmental crisis since the 1970s. Yet ecological degradation continues and little has been done to address climate change. We investigated early-career conservation researchers' (ECR) perspectives on, and prioritization of, actions furthering sustainability. We conducted a survey (n = 67) and an interactive workshop (n = 35) for ECR attendees of the 5th European Congress of Conservation Biology (2018). Emoticons seem to enrich computer-mediated communication by improving enjoyment, perceived richness and usefulness of information (Huang, Yen, & Zhang, 2008). Despite their extensive use over the last decades, the way emoticons affect subsequent emotional/cognitive processing is not fully understood. In PRB 68, 153101 (2003), Guoping Zhang presented density-matrix renormalization group (DMRG) results which contradict my DMRG calculations and Hirsch's quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) simulations for the charge-density-wave (CDW) phase boundary in the one-dimensional extended Hubbard model at half filling. In this Comment I show that Zhang's results are inaccurate and that his criticism of my work is groundless.

The genomes of the type strains of Roseivivax atlanticus and Roseivivax marinus ( Rhodobacteraceae , Alphaproteobacteria ), were analysed to determine their respective Average Nucleotide Identity (ANI) and in silico DNA–DNA hybridization (DDH) values. These species were proposed and effectively published relatively closely in time (February and August 2014, respectively) and so not taking account of the other. The intergenomic relatedness between both type strains, 97.0–97.4 % ANI and 82.8 % in silico DDH, confirm that they represent members of the same genomic species. What Do We Know About the Second Moment of Financial Markets?

Recent research shows that the vast majority of scientific studies published in leading finance journals fails scientific replication (Hou, Xue, and Zhang, 2020; Harvey, Liu, and Zhu; 2016). This study argues that p-hacking, publication pressure and the selection bias from leading finance journals are perhaps not the underlying root cause for this issue. We show that standard methodologies often used in finance research are inevitably sample-specific due to the very nature of financial markets. The authors wrote an interesting article dealing with a simple hydraulic model to illustrate the transition mechanism of transient to steady flows in the vadose zone. The soil behavior is described by a set of nine vertically aligned cylinders, each opened at the top and with a small outlet at the bottom. The water level dynamic of each cylinder, associated with an intermittent constant rainfall applied to the top cylinder, C0, was analyzed and numerical simulations were performed.
