Specific Zn(II)-binding site in the C-terminus of Aspf2, a zincophore from Aspergillus fumigatus

2022

Abstract Aspergillus fumigatus, one of the most widespread opportunistic human fungal pathogens, adapts to zinc limitation by secreting a 310 amino acid Aspf2 zincophore, able to specifically bind Zn(II) and deliver it to a transmembrane zinc transporter, ZrfC. In this work, we focus on the thermodynamics of Zn(II) complexes with unstructured regions of Aspf2; basing on a variety of spectrometric and potentiometric data, we show that the C-terminal part has the highest Zn(II)-binding affinity among the potential binding sites, and Ni(II) does not compete with Zn(II) binding to this region. The 14 amino acid Aspf2 C-terminus coordinates Zn(II) via two Cys thiolates and two His imidazoles and…

Astrocitos y zinc: alteraciones inducidas en modelos in vitro de los síndromes alcohólico fetal y de Down

2015

The lizard cerebral cortex as a model to study neuronal regeneration

2002

The medial cerebral cortex of lizards, an area homologous to the hippocampal fascia dentata, shows delayed postnatal neurogenesis, i.e., cells in the medial cortex ependyma proliferate and give rise to immature neurons, which migrate to the cell layer. There, recruited neurons differentiate and give rise to zinc containing axons directed to the rest of cortical areas, thus resulting in a continuous growth of the medial cortex and its zinc-enriched axonal projection. This happens along the lizard life span, even in adult lizards, thus allowing one of their most important characteristics: neuronal regeneration. Experiments in our laboratory have shown that chemical lesion of the medial cortex…

Film di ZnO drogati di tipo p per diffusione termica di atomi di fosforo da substrati di InP

2012

We report on p-type doping of ZnO films grown by pulsed-laser deposition on InP substrates. Electrical properties change of the films, from n-type to p-type, has been observed after postgrowth annealing at 600°C for 1h in air.
