CuII2, CuII4 and CuII6 complexes with 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazolate. Structure, magnetism and core interconversion
2019
Abstract Reactions of stoichiometric amounts of L1(−) (HL1 = 3-(2-pyridyl)pyrazole) with [Cu(H2O)6](ClO4)2, with or without PhCO2−, in MeOH or N,N′-dimethylformamide (dmf), led to the isolation of three copper(II) complexes of varying nuclearity, [CuII2(L1)2(ClO4)2(MeOH)2] (1), [CuII4(L1)4(O2CPh)2(MeOH)4](ClO4)2·2H2O (2) and [CuII6(L1)6(O2CPh)2(ClO4)2(dmf)4](ClO4)2·2dmf·2H2O (3). Structural analysis reveals two centrosymmetric four-coordinate {CuII(L1)(ClO4)(MeOH)} units are dipyrazolate-bridged in 1, giving rise to a square-pyramidal (SP; τ = 0.13) coordination to the CuII ion. In 2, two centrosymmetric four-coordinate dipyrazolate-bridged {CuII2(μ-L1)2(MeOH)2}2+ units in two layers are he…
Nonfullerene Polymer Solar Cells Reaching a 9.29% Efficiency Using a BODIPY-Thiophene Backboned Donor Material
2018
A conjugated polymer donor containing BODIPY-thiophene dyads in the backbone, P(BdP-EHT), combined with a low bandgap nonfullerene acceptor (SMDPP) consisting of carbazole and diketopyrrolopyrrole units linked with a tetracyanobutadiene acceptor π-linker, was used to design bulk heterojunction polymer solar cells. After the optimization of the donor to acceptor weight ratio and solvent vapor annealing of the P(BdP-EHT):SMDPP active layer, the resulting polymer solar cell showed an overall power conversion efficiency of 9.29%, which is significantly higher than that for the polymer solar cell based on PC71BM (7.41%) processed under identical conditions. This improved power conversion efficie…
ChemInform Abstract: Photoinduced Molecular Rearrangements. The Photochemistry of Some 1,2, 4-Oxadiazoles in the Presence of Nitrogen Nucleophiles. F…
2010
The photochemistry of some 3,5-disubstituted 1,2,4-oxadiazoles in the presence of nitrogen nucleophiles [external, such as added amines or hydrazines, or internal, such as an o-aminophenyl moiety at C(3) of the oxadiazole ring] has been investigated. In the irradiation of 5-amino-(or 5-N-substituted amino) 3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles in the presence of aliphatic primary amines (or ammonia), photolytic species arising from heterolytic cleavage of the ring O−N bond capture the nucleophilic reagent to give open-chain intermediates, which develop into 1,2,4-triazolin-5-ones. Similarly, irradiations of 3,5-diphenyl-, 3-methoxy-5-phenyl-, and 5-methyl-3-phenyl-1,2,4-oxadiazoles gave 1,2,4-triazole…

Effects of peroxidizing herbicides on protoporphyrin IX levels in non-chlorophyllous soybean cell culture
1990
Abstract The mode of action of 16 peroxidizing herbicides belonging to four different families (diphenyl ethers, oxadiazon, pyridine derivatives, and pyrazole derivatives) has been studied in nonchlorophyllous soybean cell cultures. Whenever possible, we have compared active and inactive compounds. Phytotoxic effects were estimated on the basis of growth inhibition, either in the dark or in the light. Protoporphyrin IX accumulations were estimated in dark-treated samples, using a simple methodology. In all cases, we have found a positive correlation between cellular damages and protoporphyrin IX accumulations. The results provide further evidences in favor of the light-dependent activity of…
Dual orexin receptor blocker suvorexant attenuates hypercapnic ventilatory augmentation in mice
2022
Suvorexant (Belsomra(R)), a dual orexin receptor antagonist widely used in the treatment of insomnia, inhibits the arousal system in the brain. However, the drug’s ventilatory effects have not been fully explored. This study aims to investigate the expression of orexin receptors in respiratory neurons and the effects of suvorexant on ventilation. Immunohistology of brainstem orexin receptor OX2R expression was performed in adult mice (n = 4) in (1) rostral ventral respiratory group (rVRG) neurons projecting to the phrenic nucleus (PhN) retrogradely labeled by Fluoro-Gold (FG) tracer, (2) neurons immunoreactive for paired like homeobox 2b (Phox2b) in the parafacial respiratory group/retrotra…
The role of Aurora-A inhibitors in cancer therapy
2007
Recently, new chemotherapy agents which target the non-structural components of mitosis have been developed. An important protein involved in several mitotic phases is the Aurora-A protein. By means of the phosphorylation of different substrates, Aurora-A regulates the correct development of the various phases of mitosis. The kinase activity of this protein makes Aurora-A an excellent candidate as an oncogene. The first data of Aurora-A involvement in cancer regarded the identification of Aurora-A overexpression in primary breast and colon tumour samples. With regard to the predictive role of Aurora-A, it has been shown that its overexpression disrupts the spindle checkpoint activated by pa…
PHOSPHODIESTERASE INHIBITORS PIROXIMONE AND ENOXIMONE INHIBIT PLATELET AGGREGATION IN VIVO AND IN VITRO
1997
The phosphodiesterase type III inhibitors piroximone (PIR) and enoximone (ENO) exert positive inotropic and vasodilating effects in patients with severe heart failure. PIR and ENO raise cyclic AMP levels in cardiac and vascular smooth muscle cells. Platelet activity is also regulated by intracellular levels of cyclic AMP. In this study we have investigated the effects of PIR and ENO on platelet activity in vivo and in vitro. PIR and ENO inhibited ADP induced platelet aggregation in a time- and concentration-dependent manner with IC50-values of 67 +/- 14 mumol/l and 129 +/- 6 mumol/l, respectively. Coincubation of PIR with the adenylate cyclase activator iloprost resulted in a synergistic po…
