Music in mood regulation in adolescence : an initial exploration of the Singapore context
2016
The use of music in mood regulation for adolescents is an important topic in the field of Music and Psychology. However, studies on this specific but important topic have been few and limited. The small number of studies that have been done have used mainly participants from Finland and Europe. From abugida to alphabet in Konso, Ethiopia
2019
Abstract This study examines the interplay between phonological awareness and orthography in Konso, a Cushitic language in Southwest Ethiopia. Thirty-two adults reading the Konso abugida but with minimal exposure to alphabetic literacy completed an orally administered phoneme deletion task. Sammakkona kaivossa vai valtamerellä? Aasian kielten osaaminen avartaa maailmaa
2015
Japanilaisen sanonnan mukaan kaivossa pysyttelevä sammakko ei opi tuntemaan valtamerta (i no naka no kawazu taikai o shirazu). Tarkastelen tässä artikkelissani sitä, miten maailmamme avartamisessa itäaasialaisten kielten opiskelun kautta on viime vuosina maassamme edistytty. Kiinnostukseni kohteena on erityisesti suosittu japanin kieli, joka on kiinan ohessa saavuttamassa aseman ”virallisena”, lukion valtakunnalliseen opetussuunnitelmaan sisällytettävänä vieraana kielenä. nonPeerReviewed

The roles of linguistic confidence and integrative motivation on cross-cultural adaptation of Asian degree students Finland
2015
While cross-cultural adaptation of international students has become more and more popular topics in the field of intercultural communication, there are few studies related to students who come to non-native-English-speaking countries to study international programs. Specifically, the number of Asian students enrolling in international degree programs in Finland has been increasing recently. Besides other difficulties, language has become one of the most baffling issues in the process of both sociocultural adaptation and psychological adaptation of strangers in the host country (Maza, 1963). By narrowing the impacts of integrative motivation and linguistic confidence, they have drawn some r…
