Cosmology with a very light Lμ − Lτ gauge boson

2019

In this paper, we explore in detail the cosmological implications of an abelian L − L gauge extension of the Standard Model featuring a light and weakly coupled Z′. Such a scenario is motivated by the longstanding ∼ 4σ discrepancy between the measured and predicted values of the muon’s anomalous magnetic moment, (g − 2) , as well as the tension between late and early time determinations of the Hubble constant. If sufficiently light, the Z′ population will decay to neutrinos, increasing the overall energy density of radiation and altering the expansion history of the early universe. We identify two distinct regions of parameter space in this model in which the Hubble tension can be significa…

Pseudo-Abelian integrals along Darboux cycles

2008

We study polynomial perturbations of integrable, non-Hamiltonian system with first integral of Darboux-type with positive exponents. We assume that the unperturbed system admits a period annulus. The linear part of the Poincare return map is given by pseudo-Abelian integrals. In this paper we investigate analytic properties of these integrals. We prove that iterated variations of these integrals vanish identically. Using this relation we prove that the number of zeros of these integrals is locally uniformly bounded under generic hypothesis. This is a generic analog of the Varchenko-Khovanskii theorem for pseudo-Abelian integrals. Finally, under some arithmetic properties of exponents, the p…

Experimental study of the triple-gluon vertex

1991

Abstract In four-jet events from e+e− →Z0 →multihadrons one can separate the three principal contributions from the triple-gluon vertex, double gluon-bremsstrahlung and the secondary quark-antiquark production, using the shape of the two-dimensional angular distributions in the generalized Nachtmann-Reiter angle θ NR ∗ and the opening angle of the secondary jets. Thus one can identify directly the contribution from the triple-gluon vertex without comparison with a specific non-QCD model. Applying this new method to events taken with the DELPHI-detector we get for the ratio of the colour factor Nc to the fermionic Casimir operator C F : N c C F = 2.55 ± 0.55 ( stat. ) ± 0.4 ( fragm. + models…

Heavy-tail properties of relaxation time distributions underlying the Havriliak–Negami and the Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts relaxation patterns

2007

Abstract A detailed discussion of asymptotic properties of the Havriliak–Negami and the Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts relaxation time distributions is presented. The heavy-tail property of the Havriliak–Negami relaxation time distribution, leading to the infinite mean relaxation time, is discussed. In contrast, the existence of the finite mean relaxation time for the Kohlrausch–Williams–Watts response is shown. The discussion of the Cole–Davidson and the Cole–Cole cases is also included. Using the Tauberian theorems we show that these properties are determined directly by the asymptotic behavior of the considered empirical functions.

Abelian projection and studies of gauge-variant quantities in lattice QCD without gauge fixing

1996

We suggest a new (dynamical) Abelian projection of the lattice QCD. It contains no gauge condition imposed on gauge fields so that Gribov copying is avoided. Configurations of gauge fields that turn into monopoles in the Abelian projection can be classified in a gauge invariant way. In the continuum limit, the theory respects the Lorentz invariance. A similar dynamical reduction of the gauge symmetry is proposed for studies of gauge-variant correlators (like a gluon propagator) in lattice QCD. Though the procedure is harder for numerical simulations, it is free of gauge fixing artifacts, like the Gribov horizon and copies.

Generalized cosmological term from Maxwell symmetries

2010

By gauging the Maxwell spacetime algebra the standard geometric framework of Einstein gravity with cosmological constant term is extended by adding six fourvector fields A_\mu^{ab}(x) associated with the six abelian tensorial charges in the Maxwell algebra. In the simplest Maxwell extension of Einstein gravity this leads to a generalized cosmological term that includes a contribution from these vector fields. We also consider going beyond the basic gravitational model by means of bilinear actions for the new Abelian gauge fields. Finally, an analogy with the supersymmetric generalization of gravity is indicated. In an Appendix, we propose an equivalent description of the model in terms of a…

Some aspects of deformations of supersymmetric field theories

2000

We investigate some aspects of Moyal-Weyl deformations of superspace and their compatibility with supersymmetry. For the simplest case, when only bosonic coordinates are deformed, we consider a four dimensional supersymmetric field theory which is the deformation of the Wess-Zumino renormalizable theory of a chiral superfield. We then consider the deformation of a free theory of an abelian vector multiplet, which is a non commutative version of the rank one Yang-Mills theory. We finally give the supersymmetric version of the $\alpha'\mapsto 0$ limit of the Born-Infeld action with a B-field turned on, which is believed to be related to the non commutative U(1) gauge theory.

Maxwell symmetries and some applications

2012

The Maxwell algebra is the result of enlarging the Poincar\'{e} algebra by six additional tensorial Abelian generators that make the fourmomenta non-commutative. We present a local gauge theory based on the Maxwell algebra with vierbein, spin connection and six additional geometric Abelian gauge fields. We apply this geometric framework to the construction of Maxwell gravity, which is described by the Einstein action plus a generalized cosmological term. We mention a Friedman-Robertson-Walker cosmological approximation to the Maxwell gravity field equations, with two scalar fields obtained from the additional gauge fields. Finally, we outline further developments of the Maxwell symmetries f…

Abelian charges in a nonabelian Yang-Mills theory from the stratification of the space of gauge potentials

1992

Abstract The Abelian charges in a non-Abelian Yang-Mills-Dirac theory arising from the reduction of the structure group are studied. They are defined by the concept of the stabilizer gauge transformations. Their properties are investigated. The relationship between the whole class of stabilizers and the stratification of the space of gauge potentials is given. The effect of the spontaneous symmetry breaking mechanism on these charges is discussed.

Interpolation of non-abelian lattice gauge fields

1996

We propose a method for interpolating non-abelian lattice gauge fields to the continuum, or to a finer lattice, which satisfies the properties of (i) transverse continuity, (ii) (lattice) rotation and translation covariance, (iii) gauge covariance, (iv) locality. These are the properties required for use in our earlier proposal for non-perturbative formulation and simulation of chiral gauge theories.
