Behavioural and neurochemical effects after repeated administration of N-ethylpentylone (ephylone) in mice

2022

N-ethyl-pentylone (NEP), also known as "ephylone" and N-ethylnorpentylone, has been identified as one of the most recent novel psychostimulants to emerge into the illicit drug market and it has been associated with some intoxications and even fatalities. However, little is known about the consequences of its repeated consumption as well as the role of the monoaminergic system in such consequences. Thus, the aim of our study was to investigate the neurochemical profile and the behavioural effects after both acute and repeated NEP exposure. Male OF1 mice were acutely (1, 3, 10 mg/kg, i.p.) or repeatedly (1, 3, 10 mg/kg, i.p., 5 days, twice/day) exposed to NEP, and anxiety-like behaviour, aggr…

Alteraciones de la Conducta Alimentaria en Pacientes con Trastorno por Abuso de Sustancias

2018

Psychiatric eating disorders (ED) and substance use disorder (SUD) are frequent comorbidities and negatively affect evaluation, treatment, and prognosis of both pathologies. The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of eating disorders amongst patients seeking treatment for SUD, mainly alcohol, cocaine, and cannabis, and the modulating role of impulsivity and the presence of the eating restriction disorder. We employed the following evaluation instruments: the Barratt impulsivity scale, the eating disorder inventory (EDI), and the Valencia Addiction to Eating Restriction Questionnaire (CVAR). The results showed that patients with a SUD had higher levels of impulsivity and…

“Diagnostic inflation” will not resolve taxonomical problems in the study of addictive online behaviours. •

2021

AbstractThis article suggests that the type of Internet-enabled device should not be prioritised when conceptualizing diagnostic categories of addictive online behaviours. The diagnostic distinction between “predominantly mobile” and “predominantly non-mobile” forms of Internet use disorders (IUD) is not empirically based, may not be clinically useful and may lead to “diagnostic inflation.” Problems with the concepts of smartphone use disorder and IUD on which the proposed distinction is largely based call for their re-examination. Future proposals for the taxonomy of addictive behaviours may not need to be based on online/offline and mobile/non-mobile dichotomies.

Robot acceptance model for care (RAM-care) : A principled approach to the intention to use care robots

2020

Robots are emerging in welfare services, and organizations require information on whether novel technologies are approved among staff. On the basis of technology acceptance theories, this study proposes a model that adds a principled approach to the intention to use care robots. Data of 544 professionals with care robot experience were collected. The use intention was predicted by usefulness, enjoyment, social influence, and attitude. Respondents who found robots useful and accepted by their colleagues were more likely to view robot use as consistent with their personal values. The care robot acceptance model supports consideration of the profession-specific context in robotization. peerRev…

Enterprise social media and cyber-slacking: A Kahn’s model perspective

2021

Abstract This study investigates the associations between enterprise social media (ESM) use, psychological conditions, and cyber-slacking in the workplace and examines the mediating role of psychological conditions between ESM use and cyber-slacking. The study utilizes Kahn’s framework to develop a research model and investigate various associations, and it employs a cross-sectional design, testing the developed research model with 277 ESM users from Chinese enterprises. The study results suggest that ESM use stimulates various psychological conditions that discourage cyber-slacking behaviors and significantly mediate the associations between ESM use and cyber-slacking.
