Determination of five pesticide residues in oranges by matrix solid-phase dispersion and liquid chromatography to estimate daily intake of consumers.
2001
Abstract Residues of benzoylphenylurea insecticides (diflubenzuron, hexaflumuron, and flufenuxuron), carboxamide acaricides (hexythiazox), and carbamate insecticides (benfuracarb) were determined in 150 orange fruit samples from September 1998 to June 1999, to estimate exposure of the Valencian population to oranges contaminated with these newly developed pesticides. The method for monitoring these residues is based on matrix solid-phase dispersion and liquid chromatography with UV or atmospheric pressure chemical ionization/mass spectrometry (APCI/MS) detection. Orange samples representing 11 varieties were collected from an agricultural cooperative and examined for the 5 pesticides. In 74…
SPECIE ALIENE DI RECENTE INTRODUZIONE IN ITALIA: STATO DELL’ARTE
2021
Authors report a review of alien Tetranychidae and Phytoseiidae species recorded in the last half a century in Italy. Six tetrany- chid species are considered up to now as introduced in Italy, named Oligonychus bicolor (Banks, 1894), Panonychus citri (McGregor, 1916), Oligonychus ilicis (McGregor, 1917), Tetranychus evansi Baker & Pritchard, 1960, Oligonychus perseae Tuttle, Baker & Abbatiello, 1976 and Tetranychus ludeni Zacher, 1913. Among Phytoseiidae, the neotropical Phytoseiulus per- similis Athias-Henriot is probably the oldest exotic species in Italy, followed by Neoseiulus californicus (McGregor). The most recent introduction regards Amblydromalus limonicus Garman & McGr…
Seagrass detritus as marine macroinvertebrates attractor
2022
Seagrasses colonise coastal areas worldwide. Despite their high primary production, a considerable proportion becomes detritus that can be used as food, physical habitat and occasional or permanent shelter by several benthic macroinvertebrates. In turn, macroinvertebrates can contribute to regulating seagrass decomposition, and represent an important trophic link between primary producers and higher consumers. Nonetheless, several factors could modify colonizer responses to this habitat. In this study, we tested if colonisation of the seagrass detritus of Zostera noltei Hornemann, 1832 was related to substrate availability rather than food and whether the colonising assemblages were similar…
Dispersal of microarthropods in forest soil
2001
Summary This experiment was a part of a research on the soil community in anthropogenous birch stands in Finland. In that study it was found that communities of Collembola are similar in birch stands of different origin (cultivated field or spruce forest), while the communities of Oribatida are essentially different. When compared to original spruce forest, the communities of both groups are different. Cultivation eliminates the populations of most microarthropod species, that have to disperse after reforestation from the surrounding areas. The aim of the experiment was to study the ambulatory dispersal of soil microarthropods. It was carried out in plastic boxes filled with an intact block…

Considerations on systematics of the Phytoseiidae (Acari: Mesostigmata), with definition of a new species…
2015
The authors debate some aspects of the classification of the Phytoseiidae, especially the subfamily Typhlodrominae. Within this taxon, the rhenanus group is the most numerous species group of Typhlodromus (Anthoseius), with 206 nominal species. Detailed observation of morphological characters of the species in this group showed a considerable variation, suggesting the presence of different natural lineages. The discovery of the new species here described, Typhlodromus (Anthoseius) sandrae Ragusa & Tsolakis n. sp., allowed the definition of the new porathi species group. Definition of the new species group, a dichotomous key as well as the description of the new species are given.

The genus Uracrobates (Acari, Oribatida, Mochlozetidae)

2015
Uracrobates (Parauracrobates) truncatus sp. nov. is proposed, based on specimens from soil in Nepal. Parauracrobates subgen. nov. is distinguishable from subgenus Uracrobates by the notogaster truncated posteriorly (versus conical). An identification key to known taxa in the genus Uracrobates is given.
The armoured mite fauna (Acari: Oribatida) from a long-term study in the Scots pine forest of the Northern Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve, Latvia
2014
In 1992-2012, a considerable amount of soil micro-arthropods has been collected annually as a part of a project of the National Long-Term Ecological Research Network of Latvia at the Mazsalaca Scots Pine forest sites of the North Vidzeme Biosphere Reserve. Until now, the data on oribatid species have not been published. This paper presents a list of oribatid species collected during 21 years of ongoing research in three pine stands of different age. The faunistic records refer to 84 species (including 17 species new to the fauna of Latvia), 1 subspecies, 1 form, 5 morphospecies and 18 unidentified taxa. The most dominant and most frequent oribatid species are Oppiella (Oppiella) nova, Tecto…
Synthesis of new fluorinated Tebufenpyrad analogs with acaricidal activity through regioselective pyrazole formation.
2008
In previous studies, our group has shown that the use of fluorinated alcohols such as trifluoroethanol (TFE) and hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) as solvents dramatically increases the regioselectivity in the pyrazole formation from 1,3-diketone with methylhydrazine. We have now applied this synthetic method to the preparation of new fluorinated pyrazoles, which have then been used as synthetic intermediates in the preparation of fluorinated analogs of Tebufenpyrad, a commercial acaricide. These compounds display a strong acaricidal activity that is either comparable to or better than that of the commercial compound.
A new species of Metapyroppia Woolley, 1969 (Acari, Oribatida, Peloppiidae) from Nepal
2014
A new species of oribatid mites of the family Peloppiidae, Metapyroppia gigantea n. sp. , is described from Nepal. The genus Metapyroppia is recorded for the first time from the Oriental region. Metapyroppia gigantea n. sp. differs from the type species, Metapyroppia doratosa Woolley, 1969, by the absence of notogastral setae c 2 and c 3 , presence of pointed rostrum and the adanal lyrifissures distanced from the anal plates. The morphology of gnathosoma and legs are presented in detail for the first time for any member of this genus. urn:lsid:zoobank.org:pub:EEE741F4-4C86-4625-B3FD-48E1DDA1D2D3
Venice taverns
2018
Bacari are the tavern-asylum for workers working the hardest and most humble jobs of the lagoon. The traditional bacari are slowly disappearing: it’s true because their clients are also disappearing. Fortunately, this phenomenon is steadily reconverting: nowadays in Venice, one after the other, a number of new bacari are opening at speed of light, tailored on the new generation of clients. Young and curious guys, interested in discovering the most ancient traditions bound to the anthropologic and economic context of Venice are craving to experience the atmosphere and taste recipies of the old tradition of an authentic Venice, far away from mystifications of vulgar commercialization that is …
