QA of dynamic MLC based on EPID portal dosimetry.

2010

Abstract Purpose Dynamic delivery of intensity modulated beams (dIMRT) requires not only accurate verification of leaf positioning but also a control on the speed of motion. The latter is a parameter that has a major impact on the dose delivered to the patient. Time consumed in quality assurance (QA) procedures is an issue of relevance in any radiotherapy department. Electronic portal imaging dosimetry (EPID) can be very efficient for routine tests. The purpose of this work is to investigate the ability of our EPID for detecting small errors in leaf positioning, and to present our daily QA procedures for dIMRT based on EPID. Small-x physics at the LHeC

2018

The Large Hadron-electron Collider LHeC is a proposed upgrade of the LHC. It would add an electron beam to the LHC, and make it possible to study electron-proton and electron-nucleus collisions at very high energies. We present some of the highlights of the LHeC physics program related to the studies of partonic structure of protons and nuclei, and to the non-linear QCD phenomena visible at small $x$.

Finite-Mass Effects on Inclusive B-Meson Hadroproduction

2007

We calculate the transverse-momentum (p_T) distribution for the inclusive hadroproduction of B mesons at intermediate values of p_T at next-to-leading order (NLO) in a dedicated finite-mass scheme using realistic non-perturbative fragmentation functions that are obtained through a global fit to e^+e^- data from CERN LEP1 and SLAC SLC exploiting their universality and scaling violations. We find that finite-mass effects moderately enhance the cross section, by about 20% at p_T = 2 m_b, and rapidly fade out with increasing value of p_T, so that the zero-mass prediction is reached. We also perform comparisons with recent ppbar data taken by the CDF Collaboration in run II at the Fermilab Tevat…

Next-to-Leading-Order QCD Corrections tott¯+jetProduction at Hadron Colliders

2007

We report on the calculation of the next-to-leading-order QCD corrections to the production of top-quark--top-antiquark pairs in association with a hard jet at the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider. We present results for the $t\overline{t}+\mathrm{\text{jet}}$ cross section and the forward-backward charge asymmetry. The corrections stabilize the leading-order prediction for the cross section. The charge asymmetry receives large corrections.
