Facilitadores en el procesamiento cognitivo de la información rítmica
2021
Rhythm perception models have studied an important variety of general characteristics of temporal structures and specific elements of musical rhythm, presenting a degree of heterogeneity in study objects. However, most of the research converges in the study of processes related to the listener's detection of an underlying temporal pulse. This, along with other processes such as temporal grouping, have been referred to as basic or primitive aspects, since they seem fundamental to the perception of simple rhythmic sequences. In the present work, a review of the literature in which research findings related to the cognitive processing of basic rhythmic aspects are described, synthesized and re…
Teacher trainees' perceptions of English accents and pronunciation
2015
Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on valottaa englannin aineenopetta…
"Oh I'd definitely pronounce my 'th's in a job interview" : Irish university students' attitudes towards the effects of a strong Irish accent on the …
2016
Vaikka monessa englanninkielisessä maassa on tehty laajoja aksenttikartoituksia ja -tutkimuksia, Irlanti on jäänyt suhteellisen huomiotta tällä saralla. Suurin osa aksenttitutkimuksista Irlannissa on keskittynyt maan pääkaupunkiseudulle, eikä muualla maassa puhuttavaa englantia ole juuri tutkittu. Tämän tutkielman tarkoituksena on määrittää irlanninenglannin eri aksentteihin kohdistuvia ennakkoasenteita analysoimalla tutkimuksen kohderyhmän omia asenteita ja kielenkäyttöä. Tutkimuksen kohderyhmänä toimivat irlantilaiset yliopisto-opiskelijat, ja kielenkäytön kontekstina kuvitteellinen työhaastattelu Irlannissa. Tutkimuskysymysten avulla pyrittiin selvittämään kokevatko opiskelijat työnhakij…
Crisi e trasformazione fiscale dello stato spagnolo
2011
Identification of Russian accented Finnish by native and non-native listeners with and without Finnish proficiency
2018

The study focuses on how different groups of listeners, that is native Finnish speakers (n = 18), non-native learners of Finnish (n = 12) and non-native non-learners of Finnish (n = 18), judge samples (n = 80) of Russian accented Finnish in an auditory experiment. The samples are read-aloud phrases of three Finnish speakers and three L1 Russian beginner learners of Finnish who were recorded three times at six-month intervals during their residence in Finland. The results show that the listener groups differ significantly from each other in the ability to identify the Russian accented samples. In addition, all the listener groups reported to have paid more attention to p…
La entonación del español hablado por italianos
2011

2016
Swedish has two tone accents, accents 1 and 2. There are approximately 350 minimal pairs such as ánd-en (duck) and ànde-n (spirit) differentiated only by tone accent. As all stressed words in Swedish have a tone accent, tones are important for achieving nativelike pronunciation. However, this is a challenging task for L2 speakers. In Swedish, the tone accents are potentially difficult both acoustically (cf. phonetic realization) and lexically (cf. morphological distribution). The present study focuses on the learning of Central Swedish tones by advanced L2 speakers with Finnish as their L1 (n = 10). The aim is to reveal if the learning of tones is a realistic goal for advanced adult learner…
The Omission of Accent Marks Does Not Hinder Word Recognition: Evidence From Spanish
2021
Recent research has found that the omission of accent marks in Spanish does not produce slower word identification times in go/no-go lexical decision and semantic categorization tasks [e.g., cárcel (prison) = carcel], thus suggesting that vowels like á and a are represented by the same orthographic units during word recognition and reading. However, there is a discrepant finding with the yes/no lexical decision task, where the words with the omitted accent mark produced longer response times than the words with the accent mark. In Experiment 1, we examined this discrepant finding by running a yes/no lexical decision experiment comparing the effects for words and non-words. Results showed sl…
