(Trifluoromethoxy)Phenylboronic Acids: Structures, Properties, and Antibacterial Activity.

2021

Three isomers of (trifluoromethoxy)phenylboronic acids were studied in the context of their physicochemical, structural, antimicrobial and spectroscopic properties. They were characterized by 1H, 13C, 11B and 19F NMR spectroscopy. The acidity of all the isomers was evaluated by both spectrophotometric and potentiometric titrations. The introduction of the -OCF3 group influences the acidity, depending, however, on the position of a substituent, with the ortho isomer being the least acidic. Molecular and crystal structures of ortho and para isomers were determined by the single crystal XRD method. Hydrogen bonded dimers are the basic structural motives of the investigated molecules in the sol…

Synthesis of Pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrimidine Enantiomers via Domino Ring-Closure followed by Retro Diels-Alder Protocol

2017

From 2-aminonorbornene hydroxamic acids, a simple and efficient method for the preparation of pyrrolo[1,2-a]pyrimidine enantiomers is reported. The synthesis is based on domino ring-closure followed by microwave-induced retro Diels-Alder (RDA) protocols, where the chirality of the desired products is transferred from norbornene derivatives. The stereochemistry of the synthesized compounds was proven by X-ray crystallography. The absolute configuration of the product is determined by the configuration of the starting amino hydroxamic acid. peerReviewed

Structural studies of five novel bile acid-4-aminopyridine conjugates

2012

Abstract Synthesis and solid-state structural characterization of five bile acid amides of 4-aminopyridine (4-AP) are reported. Systematic crystallization experiments revealed a number of structural modifications and/or solvate/hydrate systems for these conjugates. Particularly, cholic acid conjugate exhibited five distinct structure modifications, including one anhydrous form, mono- and dihydrates, as well as ethanol and 2-butanol solvates. The obtained crystal forms were examined extensively with various analytical methods, including solid-state NMR, Raman, and IR spectroscopies, powder and single crystal X-ray diffraction methods, thermogravimetry, and differential scanning calorimetry. …

Structural, Thermoanalytical and Molecular Modeling Studies on N-(3-hydroxypropyl) 3a,12a-Dihydroxy-5b-cholan-24-amide and Its Monohydrates

2007

The synthetic method for preparing N-(3-hydroxypropyl) 3 alpha,12 alpha-dihydroxy-5 beta-cholan-24-amide can lead to formation of at least three different crystal forms - an anhydrous compound and two monohydrates. The structural and thermal properties of these forms have been characterized by 13C-CP/MAS-NMR and IR spectroscopy, thermo- gravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry and by powder and single crystal x-ray crystallography. In addition, theoretical 13C-NMR chemical shift calculations were also performed for the anhydrous compound and for the first monohydrate, starting from single crystal structures and the structures of these species have now been verified. The first monohydra…

Redox-responsive organometallic foldamers from ferrocene amino acid: Solid-phase synthesis, secondary structure and mixed-valence properties

2011

Oligoferrocenes Fmoc-Fca(n)-OMe (n=3-5) are assembled in a stepwise precise manner from Fmoc-protected ferrocene amino acid Fmoc-Fca-OH (H-Fca-OH = 1-amino-1'-ferrocene carboxylic acid; Fmoc = 9-fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl) via amide bonds on solid supports by sequential Fmoc deprotection, acid activation and coupling steps. The resulting well-defined oligomers form ordered zigzag structures in THF solution with characteristic hydrogen bonding patterns. Electrochemical experiments reveal sequential oxidations of the individual ferrocene units in these peptides giving mixed-valent cations. Optical intervalence electron transfer is detected by intervalence transitions in the near-IR.

Conformational and structural studies of N-methylacetohydroxamic acid and of its mono- and bis-chelated uranium(VI) complexes

2015

The thermodynamics and kinetics of the cis/trans isomerism of N-methylacetohydroxamic acid (NMAH) and its conjugated base (NMA(-)) have been reinvestigated in aqueous media by (1)H NMR spectroscopy. Hindered rotation around the central C-N bond due to electronic delocalization becomes slow enough on the NMR time scale to observe both rotamers in equilibrium in D2O at room temperature. By properly assigning the methyl group resonances, evidence for the prevalence of the E over the Z form is unambiguously provided [K300=[E]/[Z]=2.86(2) and 9.63(5) for NMAH and NMA(-), respectively], closing thereby a long-lasting dispute about the most stable conformer. To that end, calculations of the chemic…

Field-induced slow relaxation of magnetisation in two one-dimensional homometallic dysprosium(iii) complexes based on alpha- and beta-amino acids.

2020

Two one-dimensional dysprosium(III) complexes based on α-glycine (gly) and β-alanine (β-ala) amino acids, with the formula {[Dy2(gly)6(H2O)4](ClO4)6·5H2O}n (1) and {[Dy2(β-ala)6(H2O)4](ClO4)6·H2O}n (2), have been synthesised and characterised structurally and magnetically. Both compounds crystallise in the triclinic system with the space group P. In 1, two DyIII ions are eight-coordinate and bound to six oxygen atoms from six gly ligands and two oxygen atoms from two water molecules, showing different geometries (bicapped trigonal prism and square antiprism). In 2, two DyIII ions are nine-coordinate and bound to seven oxygen atoms from six β-ala ligands and two oxygen atoms from two water m…

Phosphonic Acid Analogs of Fluorophenylalanines as Inhibitors of Human and Porcine Aminopeptidases N: Validation of the Importance of the Substitutio…

2020

International audience; A library of phosphonic acid analogs of phenylalanine substituted with fluorine, chlorine and trifluoromethyl moieties on the aromatic ring was synthesized and evaluated for inhibitory activity against human (hAPN) and porcine (pAPN) aminopeptidases. Fluorogenic screening indicated that these analogs are micromolar or submicromolar inhibitors, both enzymes being more active against hAPN. In order to better understand the mode of the action of the most active compounds, molecular modeling was used. It confirmed that aminophosphonic portion of the enzyme is bound nearly identically in the case of all the studied compounds, whereas the difference in activity results fro…

The unique structure of complete lipopolysaccharide isolated from semi-rough Plesiomonas shigelloides O37 (strain CNCTC 39/89) containing (2S)-O-(4-o…

2013

The complete structure of semi-rough lipopolysaccharide (SR-LPS) of Plesiomonas shigelloides CNCTC 39/89 (serotype O37) has been investigated by (1)H and (13)C NMR spectroscopy, matrix-assisted laser-desorption/ionization time-of-flight MS, and chemical methods. The following structure of the single unit of the O-antigen has been established: [formula see text] in which α-D-Lenp is (2S)-O-(4-oxopentanoic acid)-α-D-Glcp residue which has not been found in nature. The absolute configuration of oxopentanoic acid moiety in α-d-Lenose residue was determined by NOESY experiment combined with molecular modeling (MM2 force field). The decasaccharide core is substituted at C-4 of the β-D-Glcp residu…
