Fish diversity associated with gas platforms: Evaluation of two underwater visual census techniques

2007

Immunohistochemical Localization of Epithelial, Endothelial and Muscular Cell Differentiation Markers in Human Umbilical Cord

2008

Introduction. Since time [1], our group studies through immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR analysis the expression of many genes and the localization of the corresponding proteins in the human umbilical cord [2], with the aim to create a map of the presence of the different molecules in the different territories of this organ. In this work we investigate the expression and localization of several cell differentiation markers in the different territories of the human umbilical cord. Materials and methods. The presence of E-Cadherin, CD31, CD68, AE1-AE3, Desmin, Actin ML, HHF35 and MIB-1 was studied through immunohistochemistry. Results. The expression of E-Cadherin (epithelial cell marker) has …

PCL/PEG based membranes for bacterial cells immobilization stimulate actinorhodin antibiotic production in S. coelicolor

2015

The actinomycetes, Gram-positive filamentous bacteria, are the most prolific source of natural antibiotics. At industrial level, antibiotics from actinomycetes are usually produced at low levels by mean of fermentative processes in submerged cultivations, where one of the major factors negatively affecting bioproductivity is the phenomenon of a pellet-shaped biomass growth. The strategies based on cell-immobilization, which were already proven improving bacterial bioprocess productivity, could stimulate antibiotic production in actinomycetes.

Actinorhodin production intensification by nanofibrous membranes in Streptomyces coelicolor cultures

2016

In this work, electrospun polycaprolactone (PCL) and polylactic acid (PLA) membranes, subjected or not to O2-plasma treatment, werwe used as support for cell-immobilization in S. coelicolor immobilized-cells created a compact biofilm on both kinds of membranes.

[Access to hepatitis C treatment: a lesson for the future.]

2018

The new gene…

IRSp53 shapes the plasma membrane and controls polarized transport at the nascent lumen during epithelial morphogenesis

2019

AbstractEstablishment of apical–basal cell polarity is necessary for generation of luminal and tubular structures during epithelial morphogenesis. Molecules acting at the membrane/ actin interface are expected to be crucial in governing these processes. Here, we show that the I-BAR-containing IRSp53 protein is restricted to the luminal side of epithelial cells of various glandular organs, and is specifically enriched in renal tubules in human, mice, and zebrafish. Using three-dimensional cultures of renal MDCK and intestinal Caco-2 cysts, we show that IRSp53 is recruited early after the first cell division along the forming apical lumen, and is essential for formation of a single lumen and …

EFFETTI DELLA TERAPIA CON DIRECT ACTING ANTIVIRALS (DAAS) SUI PARAMETRI ECOGRAFICI DI IPERTENSIONE PORTALE

2017

Effects of direct-acting antiviral therapy (DAAS) on the ultrasound parameters of portal hypertension

2018

Background:Among the endpoints of antiviral therapy with DAAs in HCV related liver cirrhosis (LC-HCV) in addition to the eradication of the virus there are the regression of fibrosis and of portal hypertension. For this reason we evaluated in LC-HCV patients and sustained virological response (SVR) to DAAs therapy the behavior of the AST to Platelet Ratio Index (APRI) (indirect marker of fibrosis) and of two ultrasound (US) signs of portal hypertension: caliber of the portal vein (cPV ) and longitudinal diameter of the spleen (LDS) Methods:132 patients with LC-HCV at baseline (BL), at three months (PostT3) and 12 months (PostT12) after the end of therapy, performed liver function tests and …
