The primary mediators which are involved in inflammatory processes are histamine, the slow reacting substance of anaphylaxis (SRS-A), the platelet aggregating factor (PAF) and the eosinophil chemotactic factor (ECF). These mediators are primarily localized within mast cells and basophil leucocytes, which represent the target cells of allergic reaction. Binding of IgE to mast cells and basophil leucocytes and addition of the appropriate antigen then leads to the activation of the target cells with a subsequent release of their mediators. Herbicidal activity of derivatives of 9-aminofluoren-9-ylphosphonic acid

A series of derivatives of 9‐aminofluoren‐9‐ylphosphonic acid (phosphonic analogues of morphactins) were synthesized and screened for herbicidal activity against Lepidium sativum, Cucumis sativus and Lycopersicon esculentum. Ethyl 9‐(N‐alkylamino)fluoren‐9‐yl(phenyl)phosphinates appeared to be equipotent with glyphosate and thus may be recognized as new lead compounds for further structural modifications.

Abstract The chromatin structure of the promoter and proximal 5′ transcribed region of the Arabidopsis thaliana Adh gene has been studied in three experimental models: whole plants under aerobic conditions in which the gene is repressed, whole plants under flooding-induced anaerobiosis, in which the expression of the gene occurs in some plant tissues and yeast cells in which the Arabidopsis Adh DNA had been cloned but is not expressed at all. Objectives: To test the antimicrobial sensitivity of two periodontal pathogens to a panel of five orally administrable antibiotics in periodontal disease. Study design: A total of 69 isolates of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans and Porphyromonas gingivalis were processed using culture and biochemical tests. Selected colonies of A. actinomycetemcomitans and P. gingivalis were used to evaluate the antibacterial activity of clindamycin, metronidazole, amoxicillin, moxifloxacin and amoxicillin/clavulanic acid. Spin-dependent WIMP-nucleus scattering off 125Te, 129Xe, and 131Xe in the microscopic interacting boson-fermion model

We perform calculations of structure functions for elastic and inelastic spin-dependent scattering of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) off 125Te, 129Xe, and 131Xe. The nuclear structure calculations are performed in the microscopic interacting boson-fermion model (IBFM-2). In our calculations we employ one-body and leading long-range two-body WIMP-nucleus currents derived from chiral effective field theory. We demonstrate that the relevant matrix elements can be reliably computed in the IBFM-2, which will allow investigation of heavy deformed nuclei previously inaccessible to theoretical calculations. peerReviewed
