Detection of the Lowest-Lying Odd-Parity Atomic Levels in Actinium

Two lowest-energy odd-parity atomic levels of actinium, 7s27pP21/2o, 7s27pP23/2o, were observed via two-step resonant laser-ionization spectroscopy and their respective energies were measured to be 7477.36(4) and 12 276.59(2) cm-1. The lifetimes of these states were determined as 668(11) and 255(7) ns, respectively. In addition, we observed the effect of the hyperfine structure on the line for the transition to P23/2o. These properties were calculated using a hybrid approach that combines configuration interaction and coupled-cluster methods, in good agreement with the experiment. Primary cilia are microtubule-based sensory cell organelles that are vital for tissue and organ development. They act as an antenna, receiving and transducing signals, enabling communication between cells. Defects in ciliogenesis result in severe genetic disorders collectively termed ciliopathies. Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (ACM) encompasses a group of inherited cardiomyopathies including arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy (ARVC) whose molecular disease mechanism is associated with dysregulation of the canonical WNT signalling pathway. Mechanical forces are important signals for cell response and development, but detailed molecular mechanisms of force sensing are largely unexplored. The cytoskeletal protein filamin is a key connecting element between the cytoskeleton and transmembrane complexes such as integrins or the von Willebrand receptor glycoprotein Ib. The food and parasites of fish in some deep basins of northern L. Päijänne

The composition of the fish stock, food and ‘macroparasites’ were studied in eleven basins (22–100 m) of Lake Jyvasjarvi and North Paijanne in August–September 1976. The fishing was done by means of a series of nets (meshes 15, 21 and 35 mm) laid on the bottom overnight. No fish were found in the two northernmost basins owing to bad oxygen conditions caused by waste waters. Smelt and burbot were the most abundant fish in the catches in other basins but the vendace was rare. Relict crustaceans and some ‘deep water’ copepods (e.g. Heterocope borealis) played an important role in the food of fish in all basins.
