Parental Involvement in Math Homework: Links to Children’s Performance and Motivation

The present study examined the longitudinal associations between children’s perceptions of parental involvement in math homework (control and support) and their math performance and motivation (taskpersistent homework behavior and math self-concept). Children (n = 512) reported their perceptions concerning parental involvement in sixthgrade math homework. In grades 3 and 6, children completed math tests, evaluated own math self-concept, and their mothers (n = 420) evaluated task persistence during homework. The aim of this study was to investigate to which type of running exercises well trained endurance runners respond more favourably with regard to acute neuromuscular and endocrinological responses and exercise-induced oxidative stress. It was hypothesized that these responses depend on the type of running exercise and relate to the physical characteristics. The dominant psychological model of emotion posits that a cognitive process (the appraisal) precedes, and results in, the corresponding emotion, including any induced state of physiological arousal: the cognitive com-ponent of emotion mediates the effect of the external cause on the internal arousal component.
