Limiting nuclearity in formation of polynuclear metal complexes through [2 + 3] cycloaddition: synthesis and magnetic properties of tri- and pentanuc…

2014

A tridentate ligand p-chloro-2-{(2-(dimethylamino)ethylimino)methyl}phenol (HL) was used to generate an octahedral nickel complex [Ni(L)Cl(H2O)2] 1 which was further converted into a square-planar nickel complex [Ni(L)(N3)] 2. The [2 + 3] cycloaddition reaction between metal coordinated azide 2 and different organonitriles under microwave irradiation afforded tri- and pentanuclear nickel(II) complexes 4a-4c. Reaction with benzonitrile and 3-cyano pyridine furnished the trinuclear species [Ni3L2(5-phenyltetrazolato)4(DMF)2] 4a and [Ni3L2{5-(3-pyridyl)-tetrazolato}4(DMF)2]·2H2O 4b, respectively. The nickel centers were found to be linearly disposed to each other and the complex is formed by a…

Organometallic Palladium Complexes with a Water-Soluble Iminophosphorane Ligand As Potential Anticancer Agents

2012

The synthesis and characterization of a new water-soluble iminophosphorane ligand TPA=N-C(O)-2BrC(6)H(4) (C,N-IM; TPA = 1,3,5-triaza-7-phosphaadamantane) 1 is reported. Oxidative addition of 1 to Pd(2)(dba)(3) affords the orthopalladated dimer [Pd(μ-Br){C(6)H(4)(C(O)N=TPA-kC,N)-2}](2) (2) as a mixture of cis and trans isomers (1:1 molar ratio) where the iminophosphorane moeity behaves as a C,N-pincer ligand. By addition of different neutral or monoanionic ligands to 2, the bridging bromide can be cleaved and a variety of hydrophilic or water-soluble mononuclear organometallic palladium(II) complexes of the type [Pd{C(6)H(4)(C(O)N=TPA-kC,N)-2}(L-L)] (L-L = acac (3); S(2)CNMe(2) (4); 4,7-Diph…

Etherification of Functionalized Phenols with Chloroheteroarenes at Low Palladium Loading: Theoretical Assessment of the Role of Triphosphane Ligands…

2011

The present study highlights the potential of robust tridentate ferrocenylphosphanes with controlled conformation as catalytic auxiliaries in CO bond formation reactions. Air-stable palladium triphosphane systems are efficient for selective heteroaryl ether synthesis by using as little as 0.2 mol% of catalyst. These findings represent an economically attractive and clean etherification of functionalized phenols, electron-rich, electron-poor and para-, meta- or ortho-substituted substrates, with heteroaryl chlorides, including pyridines, hydroxylated pyridine, pyrimidines and thiazole. The etherification tolerates very important functions in various positions, such as cyano, methoxy, amino, …

Assessing natural metalinguistic skills in people with Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia

2019

Abstract Objective The aim of this paper is to assess whether the use of natural metalinguistic skills can be used to differentiate linguistic-communicative profiles of people with dementia (Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia in the behavioural and primary progressive aphasia variants) in the earliest stages of the disease. Method A sample of 180 people was selected. Sixty had Alzheimer’s disease, 20 had frontotemporal dementia of the behavioural variant, and 40 had frontotemporal dementia of the primary progressive aphasia variant (20 had non-fluent primary progressive aphasia and 20 had semantic dementia). The control group was composed of 60 healthy people with ages, gender,…

Discovery-learning in grammar education:a study on anaphoric pronouns

2022

First Evidence for a Covalent Linkage between Enterobacterial Common Antigen and Lipopolysaccharide in Shigella sonnei Phase II ECALPS

2014

Enterobacterial common antigen (ECA) is expressed by Gram-negative bacteria belonging to Enterobacteriaceae, including emerging drug-resistant pathogens such as Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and Proteus spp. Recent studies have indicated the importance of ECA for cell envelope integrity, flagellum expression, and resistance of enteric bacteria to acetic acid and bile salts. ECA, a heteropolysaccharide built from the trisaccharide repeating unit, →3)-α-D-Fucp4NAc-(1→4)-β-D-ManpNAcA-(1→4)-α-D-GlcpNAc-(1→, occurs as a cyclic form (ECA(CYC)), a phosphatidylglycerol (PG)-linked form (ECA(PG)), and an endotoxin/lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-associated form (ECA(LPS)). Since the discovery of…

Cyclodextrins in polymer synthesis: free radical polymerization of cyclodextrin host-guest complexes of methyl methacrylate or styrene from homogenou…

2000

The polymerization of methylated β-cyclodextrin (m-β-CD) 1 : 1 host-guest compounds of methyl methacrylate (MMA) (1) or styrene (2) is described. The polymerization of complexes 1 a and 2 a was carried out in water with potassium peroxodisulfate (K2S2O8)/sodium hydrogensulfite (NaHSO3) as radical redox initiator at 60°C. Unthreading of m-β-CD during the polymerization led to water-insoluble poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) (3) and polystyrene (4). By comparison, analogously prepared polymers from uncomplexed monomers 1 and 2 in ethanol as organic solvent with 2,2′-azoisobutyronitrile (AIBN) as radical initiator showed significantly lower molecular weights and were obtained in lower yields i…

Clinical significance of complex karyotype at diagnosis in pediatric and adult patients with de novo acute promyelocytic leukemia treated with ATRA a…

2019

Although additional cytogenetic abnormalities (ACA) do not affect the prognosis of patients with t(15;17) acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL), the role of a complex karyotype (CK) is yet to be clarified. We aimed to investigate the relationship of CK with relapse incidence in 1559 consecutive APL patients enrolled in three consecutive trials. Treatment consisted of AIDA induction followed by risk-adapted consolidation. A CK (CK) was defined as the presence of ≥2 ACA, and a very CK (CK+) as ≥3 ACA. Eighty-nine patients (8%) had a CK, of whom 41 (4%) had CK+. The 5-year cumulative incidence of relapse (CIR) in patients with CK was 18%, and 12% in those with <2 ACA (p=.09). Among patients wi…

Determination of globotriaosylceramide in plasma and urine by mass spectrometry

2009

Abstract Background: Fabry disease is an X-chromosomally inherited lysosomal storage disorder leading to accumulation of glycosphingolipids, mainly globotriaosylceramide (ceramide-trihexoside, Gb3). Concentrations of Gb3 in plasma and urine have been used to diagnose Fabry disease and to monitor enzyme replacement therapy with recombinant α-galactosidase. Methods: Gb3 was purified from plasma or urine by combined liquid extraction/protein precipitation and solid-phase extraction, and was detected by flow-injection analysis electrospray mass spectrometry (MS) using multi-reaction-monitoring. Calibration was performed via standard addition using C17-Gb3 as internal standard. The most abundant…
