CT and MR Imaging of Orbital Lesions

1989

In the past, the diagnosis of orbital lesions manifested clinically by unilateral or bilateral proptosis and/or impaired ocular motility has relied on conventional skull films and orbital radiographs, sonography, fluorescein angiography, internal and external carotid angiography, and ophthalmic venography. The introduction of CT, however, has greatly reduced the importance of invasive diagnostic procedures (Wende et al. 1977).

Surveillance colonoscopy in ulcerative colitis: magnifying chromoendoscopy in the spotlight

2004

Chromoendoscopy in ulcerative colitis may offer the possibility of detecting dysplastic or neoplastic changes at a curable stage, and thus expand the indication for chromoendoscopy from screening to surveillance colonoscopy Colonoscopy is the gold standard for colorectal cancer screening.1–3 Detection and complete removal of adenomas disrupt the adenoma-carcinoma sequence and thus prevent the development of colorectal cancer. However, endoscopists still fear that they may have overlooked relevant lesions despite the availability of modern videoendoscopes. This problem is underlined by a relatively high rate of adenomas missed by conventional endoscopy (up to 27%), as determined by back to b…

Spiral-Computertomographie der Mamma

1994

Aim To evaluate the use of spiral CT in the diagnosis of breast lesions. Material and methods 93 female patients with suspicious or uncertain mammographic findings were examined by CT before and after contrast enhancement according to the following practical method: table movement, 6 mm/s, slice thickness 6 mm, increment 4 mm, contrast 200 ml, injection rate 3 ml/s, scan start 50 s after the beginning of the injection. Histological confirmation was present in 85 patients. Results All 44 invasive carcinomas were recognised. They were characterised by intensive focal contrast uptake. Only 2 out of 7 intraductal carcinomas were not shown by CT. 36 out of 38 benign lesions were correctly diagno…

Ārpusšūnu cirkulējošo nukleīnskābju izpēte hipofīzes adenomas pacientos

2019

Līdz šim literatūrā nav ziņojumu par ccfDNA un cirkulējošo miRNS izpēti HA pacientu plazmā. Darbā tika novērtēta iespējamība detektēt HA izcelsmes ccfDNA plazmā, veicot mērķētu NGS pozīcijās, kuras saturēja HA somatiskās mutācijas, un veikts pētījums par miRNS sastāva izmaiņu detektēšanu plazmā 24 stundas pēc HA rezekcijas. HA eksomos atklātās somatiskās mutācijas tikai detektētas septiņās no 16 pārbaudītajām pozīcijām ccfDNA amplikonos. Divās ccfDNA pozīcijās mutantā alēle bija vairāk nekā 2% no kopējā nolasījumu skaita, kas varētu liecināt par šo ccfDNA izcelsmi no HA. Piecās pozīcijās no diviem HA pacientiem mutantās alēles īpatsvars ccfDNA bija ap 50%, kaut gan šīs mutācijas netika kons…

Molekulārie mikroRNS faktori hipofīzes adenomas attīstībā

2021

COX-2 expression in chondrosarcoma: A role for celecoxib treatment?

2010

Chondrosarcomas are resistant to conventional chemo- and radiotherapy. A subset of chondrosarcomas arises secondarily in the benign tumour syndromes enchondromatosis (EC) and multiple osteochondromas (MO), and prevention of tumour development would greatly improve prognosis. We therefore investigated the effect of selective COX-2 inhibition on chondrosarcoma growth. COX-2 expression was studied in central- and peripheral cartilaginous tumours. The effect of COX-2 inhibition was assessed in four high-grade chondrosarcoma cell lines using celecoxib and NS-398 treatment. COX-2 activity (prostaglandin E-2 (PGE(2)) ELISA) and cell viability were measured. The (prophylactic) effect of celecoxib o…

Tumor odontogenico adenomatoide folicular: estudio inmunohistoquimico

2006

Plasmacytoid myoepithelioma of the palate : report of one case and review of the literature

2007

Introduction: Myoepithelioma is a benign neoplasm of salivary glands, represents 1.5 % of all salivary glands neoplasm. The plasmacytoid myoepithelioma from palate salivary glands is considered as a rare entity, at date it has been reported 14 cases. It is present one case of plasmacytoid myoepithelioma of palate. Case report: A Hispanic female of 28 years old presented a not-ulcerate, painless ovoid swelling at left side of hard palate with a one year and a half of evolution. An excisional biopsy was done. The sample was fixed at 10% buffer formalin, embedded in paraffin, cuts at 5 µ and stained with H-E. Microscopically, the lesion was composed by myoepithelial neoplastic cells characteri…
