Meaning in Life Buffers the Association between Perceived Burdensomeness, Thwarted Belongingness, and Frequency of Non-Suicidal Self-Injuries in Span…

2021

Background: Adolescence is a developmental stage when there is a high risk of engaging in non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). There is recent interest in the study of thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensome as variables associated with the frequency of NSSI in adolescents. Meaning in life (MIL) might be negatively associated with thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness. To date, no studies have analyzed the buffering role of MIL in the association between thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness and the frequency of lifetime NSSI in Spanish adolescents. Aims: (a) To test whether thwarted belongingness and perceived burdensomeness are associated with frequency of …

Etiological factors of chronic hepatitis in Italy: a 2014 national survey.

2017

Background The last Italian prevalence survey on chronic hepatitis (CH) conducted in 2001 showed that the hepatitis C virus (HCV) was the main agent associated with CH. Aim The aim of this study was to evaluate epidemiological changes in CH occurring after 13 years. Patients and methods Enrollment of 1392 CH consecutive patients referred to 16 Italian liver units in 2014 scattered all over the country (four in the North, four in the Center, four in the South, and four in the Islands) was performed. Results The mean age of the patients was 58.3 years, with a sex ratio (male/female) of 1.5. HCV infection (also with other etiologies) continues to be the most prevalent etiology (58.1%). However…

Measurement Properties of Smartphone Approaches to Assess Physical Activity in Healthy Young People: Systematic Review

2022

Background Physical inactivity is a preventable risk factor for several chronic diseases and one of the driving forces behind the growing global burden of disease. Recent evidence has shown that interventions using mobile smartphone apps can promote a significant increase in physical activity (PA) levels. However, the accuracy and reliability of using apps is unknown. Objective The aim of our review was to determine the accuracy and reliability of using mobile apps to measure PA levels in young people. We conducted a systematic review guided by PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses). Methods Studies published from 2007 to 2020 were sourced from 8 databa…

Breakfast consumption and its socio-demographic and lifestyle correlates in schoolchildren in 41 countries participating in the HBSC study

2009

Objective: To investigate associations of daily breakfast consumption (DBC) with demographic and lifestyle factors in 41 countries. Methods: Design: Survey including nationally representative samples of 11–15 year olds (n = 204,534) (HBSC 2005–2006). Statistics: Multilevel logistic regression analyses Results: DBC varied from 33 % (Greek girls) to 75 % (Portuguese boys). Nuorten ateriarytmi : Kuka syö koulupäivinä säännöllisesti?

2006

Tutkimuksessa selvitettiin aamiaisen, lounaan ja ilta-aterian muodostaman ateriarytmin yleisyyttä 7- ja 9-luokkalaisilla suomalaisnuorilla koulupäivinä. Lisäksi tarkasteltiin elintapojen, koulutusorientaation ja perhetekijöitten yhteyksiä ateriarytmin säännöllisyyteen. Tulokset perustuvat WHO-Koululaistutkimuksen kyselyyn, johon koululaiset (N = 3477) vastasivat vuonna 2002. Aineiston analysoinnissa käytettiin ristiintaulukointeja ja logistisia regressioanalyysejä. Noin 40 prosenttia pojista ja vajaa 30 prosenttia tytöistä söi aamiaisen, lounaan ja ilta-aterian säännöllisesti koulupäivinään. Vähäinen alkoholin käyttö ja aikomus mennä lukioon olivat yhteydessä säännölliseen ateriarytmiin sek…
