: Advising Pupils about School Options and Careers in England

In England, concern about efficiency and good access to jobs, careers advice has been through successive reforms such as privatizing the public networks of careers advice, then in 2001, creating outside schools a service called Connexions. Based on partnership and playing the role of a personal advisor to young people, it offers to any of them a set of services and advice. However the problem is that not all young people make use of it and many of the partners do not share information. Will school play a role again in advising young people on their careers?

In October 2014 I was elected President of the WFOT. I want to thank here the support of Dr. Lamberto Re, Professor Nabil Mawsof and Dr. Mark Weisser, that encouraged to me assume this task. Six society members and 20 individual members from 10 more countries were awaiting to grow. Our bylaws, written 9 years before, were not adapted to the current worldwide situation of the ozone therapy; even inside WFOT, some situations needed formalization, so updating the bylaws was a mandatory task.

Artikkelissa kysytään, millainen on miehisen terveyskäyttäytymisen kulttuuriperintö; millä tavalla menneisyys, yhteiskunta, tavat ja arvot ovat miesten terveyden edistämiseen tähtäävissä teksteissä läsnä, ja miten ne toimivat. Artikkelin aineistona on kymmenen vuosina 1998–2010 julkaistua suomalaista, miehille suunnattua terveys- ja hyvinvointiopasta. Mirja Hirvensalo selvitti väitöstutkimuksessaan 65–84-vuotiaidenjyväskyläläisten liikuntaharrastuksen muutosta, pysyvyyttä sekä liikunnanharrastamisen syitä ja esteitä vuonna 1988 ja kahdeksan vuotta myöhemmin,vuonna 1996.Kävelylenkkeily oli iäkkäiden jyväskyläläisten suosituin liikuntamuoto.Kolme neljäsosaa tutkituista harrasti kävelyä vielä seurannan päättyessä.Kävelylenkkeily väheni huomattavasti vasta vanhemman ikäryhmäntutkituilla, 83-92-vuotiaana. Aim of the study In the past few years, the number of over-indebted private households in Germany has steadily increased and is currently estimated to have reached 3.13 million. Financial difficulties culminating in private insolvencies of the persons concerned may lead to a restrained usage of health-care services that require additional payment. For the first time ever this study has examined whether over-indebted individuals refrain from seeking medical treatment or from buying prescribed medicine because of their financial situation. An unhealthy diet has been implicated as risk factors for several chronic diseases that are known to be associated with oral diseases. Studies investigating the relationship between oral diseases and diet are limited. Therefore, this study was conducted to describe the relationship between healthy eating habits and oral health status. The dentistry has an important role in the diagnosis of oral diseases correlated with diet. Consistent nutrition guidelines are essential to improve health. Statin therapy is generally well tolerated and very effective in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease, regardless of cholesterol levels; however, it can be associated with various adverse events (myalgia, myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, and diabetes mellitus, among others). Patients frequently discontinue statin therapy without medical advice because of perceived side effects and consequently increase their risk for cardiovascular events. Artikkelissa tarkastellaan puutarhaviljelyn yleistymistä ja puutarhaneuvonnan vastaanottoa maamme syrjäseudulla 1900-luvun aikana.
