Laboratory investigation into the modification effect of paving bitumen with different plastomeric polymers

The use of polymer/bitumen modified blends in road paving applications has been increasingly advancing from the technological point of view. Plastomeric polymers are known to be amongst the most used in bitumen modification. Therefore, this paper presents the influence and degree of modification of several plastomeric modified bitumen in terms of rheological properties and morphology. The maintenance of track provides an relatively frequent operations. A good maintenance-planning allows to reduce the interference between rail traffic and maintenance operations. It is necessary so to use a monitoring system of track conditions. In this paper is showed an indirect monitoring system that correlates track conditions and typical spectrum of in-cab noise. The first results of experimental survey are reported.

In accordance with the Road Safety National Plan recently adopted in Italy and the initiatives subsequently undertaken by the National Infrastructure and Transport Department, this paper contains proposals for implementing an urban road safety audit in Italy, Our research will aim at evaluating the possible effects of such a practice.
