The Strategy and the Reasons of the Republic of Moldova's Association with European Union
2014
Abstract The European Union and the Republic of Moldova negotiated an Association Agreement (AA) in 2010, and a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) in 2012. After completion of negotiations and initialling of AA, before the full Agreement can enter into force, action is needed to ensure that the Parties are able to enjoy the full benefits of the Agreement. SMEs play a focal role in the implementation of the future DCFTA. The article describes the economic and political basis for association/integration, outlining the importance of SMEs. This article is reasoning for future PhD research in this area.
¿Rancière “Disagreement” Vs Habermasian Deliberative Democracy? Civil Disobedience in Habermas’ Theory of Democracy
2017
The article a(n) in English quantifying expressions: A default marker of cardinality
2020
Certain English quantificational expressions feature what appears to be an indefinite article, e.g. a bunch, a few, a hundred. These can be divided into three types of quantifying expressions: pseudopartitives (a lot, a bunch, a ton), article-requiring quantifiers (a few, a couple, a hundred), and article-free quantifiers (three, many, several); article-free quantifiers have an article under certain circumstances, e.g. modification by an adjective (a surprising 30 …). While standard analyses would take the article in these expressions to be a D head, it is argued here that the article is not in D, nor is it singular or count, as evidenced by its (lack of an) interaction with verbal agreemen…
2020
The paper focuses on the connection between the Montessori principles related to child edu-cation and the school-family educational co-responsibility for the common construction of meaning. This combination can represent a keystone of school architecture for the authenticity of the educational fact. A practical-operational tool is the school-family educational pact. A survey has shown the correlation and the practical implications of the twoaspects according to teachers and parents.
Strategic Accounting Choice Around Firm-Level Labor Negotiations
2014
Prior literature argues that managers make opportunistic income-decreasing accounting choices to limit the concessions made to trade unions. However, empirical research to date presents mixed evidence, potentially due to a common theoretical approach that views labor bargaining as a one-shot game in nature. Using a sample of U.S. firms that engage in firm-level labor collective agreement negotiations, we study whether managers act strategically to reduce the transfer of wealth to employees, and its consequences over investment efficiency. We expect that the repeated nature of this negotiation leads to cooperation among the parties and limits the incentives for earnings manipulation, partic…
Despidos laborales. Fracturas sociales e identitarias
2008
The thousands of collective dismissals which have opened the beginning of the century in Spain do not just mean nearly two hundred thousand jobs (lots of them with a very long validity) and the same amount of broken life projects, but also ways of social reproduction, broken identities, institutions and social guarantees that crumble. Amazingly, these social upheavals often become eclipsed by discourses that appeal to economic considerations, the requirements of modernization or the requests of the logic of globalization. At this article, the consequences of the break of the social link intertwined along the second half of the twentieth century are investigated. For that, we have been rebui…
The EU-Africa Trade Agreements
2021
This chapter scrutinizes the successive rounds of EU-Africa agreements and the four-tier preference system of the European Union for developing countries, with special attention to the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPA). Full EPAs and interim EPAs are reviewed in terms of the resulting country configurations in Africa and their impact on the officially intended consolidation of African regional communities. The analysis concludes that the artificial EPA configurations do not correspond to any existing REC in Africa. If they last, they will have a very critical effect on Africa’s regional economic integration, all the more as they start to be emulated in other trade agreements between Afr…
Trade balances and exchange rates in the long run for European Union countries
2000
This paper has found evidence that real effective exchange rates have a positive impact on the trade balance in the long run for major European Union countries. This result sheds more light on the long-run statistical relationship between those two variables, at least in the context of the Community. The existence of that link is sustained by the effects that income variables have on the trade balance. The outcomes of this analysis in support of a long-run equilibrium relationship are consistent with the imperfect substitutes model, confirming the validity of this model for economic policy implementation purposes. Low, long-run elasticities of the trade balance with respect to the real effe…
