Recognising forced migrants in transnational social work

PurposeNation states’ neoliberal policies do not regard asylum seekers and undocumented migrants as deserving of a good life. Social work in welfare states is highly connected to the policies of nation states. There is a need to address theories in social work that have a transnational focus at the local level. Axel Honneth’s recognition theory enables an approach to forced migration from the direction of personal relations and personhood itself. The core idea is that if people cannot gain recognition, this causes harm to their self-realisation. Female knowledge workers and the illusion of working-time autonomy

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to ask: what are the temporal realities of female knowledge workers? It especially focusses on women’s possibilities of using working-time autonomy, and the work and non-work practices that shape their possibility to use work-hour autonomy. In knowledge work, working-time autonomy is usually high, but exercising autonomy is not always possible. The study was carried out in Finland, where full-time work is common also among women, even if they have small children. Bakalaura darba Nakts un rītausma Vergilija eposā Aineida mērķis ir izpētīt un novērtēt nakts un rītausmas laika apzīmējumu jēdzienisko nozīmi un lingvostilistisko izmantojumu Vergilija eposā. Mērķa sasniegšanai tika aplūkotas gan antīko, gan mūsdienu teorētiķu atziņas par episkās dzejas iezīmēm, kā arī laika aspektu episkajā dzejā. Darba autors pētīja gan hronoloģiskus, gan metaforiskus nakts aprakstus. Pētot rītausmu, tika akcentēts gan leksēmas dies izmantojums saistībā ar rītausmu, gan Auroras atainojums. Positive parenting and parenting stress among working mothers in Finland, the UK and the Netherlands : Do working time patterns matter?

This study explored the effects of working time patterns on positive parenting and parenting stress, and the moderating effects of working hours, the unpredictability of work schedules, and autonomy over working time in a European context. This cross-national survey study compared Finnish (n = 337), Dutch (n = 283) and British (n = 317) mothers with children under the age of 13, using structural equation modeling with a multigroup procedure. We found a connection between working time patterns and positive parenting but the nature of the connection differed between countries.
