A ąuestionnaire on “the essence and goal of a novel” published in 1897 in “Kurier Niedzielny” is an interesting documentation of aesthetic views of writers and literary critics in the late 19th century. Representatives of all literary generations of that time - from pre-positivists through two generations of Polish positivists to Young Poland writers - speak in favor of moderate aestheticism protesting against bias in literaturę and defend the autonomy of an artist. In this paper we introduce some contractive conditions of Meir-Keeler type for a pair of mappings, called $MK$-$pair$ and $L\textrm{-}pair$, in the framework of cone metric spaces and we prove theorems which assure existence and uniqueness of common fixed points for $MK$-$pairs$ and $L \textrm{-}pairs$. As an application we obtain a result of common fixed point of a $p$-$MK$-pair, a mapping and a multifunction, in complete cone metric spaces. These results extend and generalize well-known comparable results in the literature.

International audience; We provide a new argument proving the reliability of the Bank-Weiser estimator for Lagrange piecewise linear finite elements in both dimension two and three. The extension to dimension three constitutes the main novelty of our study. In addition, we present a numerical comparison of the Bank-Weiser and residual estimators for a three-dimensional test case.
Analysis of 7Be and 210Pb concentration and 7Be/210Pb activity ratio in ground level air in Palermo (Italy)

A series of measurements of particulate samples collected on paper filters in Palermo (Italy) during 1995–2005 has been performed to detect 210Pb air activity concentration and, along with previous similar data on 7Be, to evaluate their activity ratio. Average values for the daily activity concentrations of 7Be and 210Pb are found to be 4.7 and 0.6 mBq/m3 , respectively, 9.8 being the average activity ratio. Data confirm a seasonal behavior for both radionuclides. A correlation between 7Be and 210Pb air activity concentrations seems to exist, despite their different origins. Background The purpose of this in vivo study was to compare the marginal and internal gap widths of monolithic zirconia crowns fabricated by CAD/CAM technique and metal-ceramic crowns fabricated by conventional technique. Plasma‐activated liquids (PAL) attract increasing interest with demonstrated biological effects. Plasma exposure in air produces stable aqueous reactive species which can serve as chemical diagnostics of PAL systems. Here, we tailor aqueous reactive species inside plasma‐activated water (PAW) through treating water with AC air spark and glow discharges in contact with water.
