Characterization and Tuning of Ultra High Gradient Permanent Magnet Quadrupoles

The application of quadrupole devices with high field gradients and small apertures requires precise control over higher order multipole field components. We present a new scheme for performance control and tuning, which allows the illumination of most of the quadrupole device aperture because of the reduction of higher order field components. Consequently, the size of the aperture can be minimized to match the beam size achieving field gradients of up to $500\text{ }\text{ }\mathrm{T}\text{ }{\mathrm{m}}^{\ensuremath{-}1}$ at good imaging quality. This report delineates a new clinical presentation of multiple benign spiradenoma (BS), a diffuse linear nevoid pattern. A 16-year-old girl, in otherwise good health, had many papulonodular lesions, varying in color from blue-gray to bright red, disposed linearly on the right half of her body, involving the periorbital region, cheek, lateral side of the neck, trunk, linea alba, right thigh, and leg. Only a few nodules were slightly painful. Lesions were reported to be present at birth; no family members had similar lesions, either in solitary or multiple form. A Ugo Gaisser, monaco benedettino di origine tedesca, Rettore del Pontificio Collegio Greco di Roma dal 1905 al 1912, va attribuito il merito di aver avviato una specifica attenzione nei confronti della musica bizantina degli Albanesi di Sicilia. Gaisser conobbe personalmente Alberto Favara a Roma durante il Congresso internazionale di Scienze Storiche nel 1903.
