Tests against stationary and explosive alternatives in vector autoregressive models
2008
. The article proposes new tests for the number of unit roots in vector autoregressive models based on the eigenvalues of the companion matrix. Both stationary and explosive alternatives are considered. The limiting distributions of test statistics depend only on the number of unit roots. Size and power are investigated, and it is found that the new test against some stationary alternatives compares favourably with the widely used likelihood ratio test for the cointegrating rank. The powers are prominently higher against explosive than against stationary alternatives. Some empirical examples are provided to show how to use the new tests with real data.

Dr. Gibson has to be congratulated for having enriched the wealth of articles written in response to the ASA statement on p-values of 2016 by a valuable and thoughtful contribution. We particularly...
Isotropic stochastic flow of homeomorphisms on Rd associated with the critical Sobolev exponent
2008
Abstract We consider the critical Sobolev isotropic Brownian flow in R d ( d ≥ 2 ) . On the basis of the work of LeJan and Raimond [Y. LeJan, O. Raimond, Integration of Brownian vector fields, Ann. Probab. 30 (2002) 826–873], we prove that the corresponding flow is a flow of homeomorphisms. As an application, we construct an explicit solution, which is also unique in a certain space, to the stochastic transport equation when the associated Gaussian vector fields are divergence free.
An alternative representation of Altham's multiplicative-binomial distribution
1998
Abstract Cox (1972) introduced a log-linear representation for the joint distribution of n binary-dependent responses. Altham (1978) derived the distribution of the sum of such responses, under a multiplicative, rather than log-linear, representation and called it multiplicative-binomial. We propose here an alternative form of the multiplicative-binomial, which is derived from the original Cox's representation and is characterized by intuitively meaningful parameters, and compare its first two moments with those of the standard binomial distribution.
Breathers and solitons of generalized nonlinear Schrödinger equations as degenerations of algebro-geometric solutions
2011
We present new solutions in terms of elementary functions of the multi-component nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations and known solutions of the Davey-Stewartson equations such as multi-soliton, breather, dromion and lump solutions. These solutions are given in a simple determinantal form and are obtained as limiting cases in suitable degenerations of previously derived algebro-geometric solutions. In particular we present for the first time breather and rational breather solutions of the multi-component nonlinear Schr\"odinger equations.
Bayesian subset selection for additive and linear loss function
1979
Given k independent samples of common size n from k populations πj,…,πk with distribution the problem is to select a non-empty subset form {πj,…,πk}, which is associated with "good" (large) θ-values. We consider this problem from a Bayesian approach. By choosing additive and especially linear loss functions we try to fill a gap lying in between the results of Deely and Gupta (1968) and more recent papers due to Goel and Rubin (1977), Gupta and Hsu (1978) and other authors. It is shown that under acertain "normal model" Seal's procedure turns out to be Bayes w.r.t. an unrealistic loss function where as Gupta's maximunl means procedure turns out to be ( for large n) asymptotically Bayes w.r. …
Relación entre conos de direcciones decrecientes y conos de direcciones de descenso
1984
Let f: N ? R a convex function and x I Ni, where N is a convex set in a real linear space. It is stated that, if Df<(x) is not empty, then Df<(x) is the algebraic interior of Df=(x).
On-line Construction of Two-Dimensional Suffix Trees
1999
AbstractWe say that a data structure is builton-lineif, at any instant, we have the data structure corresponding to the input we have seen up to that instant. For instance, consider the suffix tree of a stringx[1,n]. An algorithm building iton-lineis such that, when we have read the firstisymbols ofx[1,n], we have the suffix tree forx[1,i]. We present a new technique, which we refer to asimplicit updates, based on which we obtain: (a) an algorithm for theon-lineconstruction of the Lsuffix tree of ann×nmatrixA—this data structure is the two-dimensional analog of the suffix tree of a string; (b) simple algorithms implementing primitive operations forLZ1-typeon-line losslessimage compression m…
Vector coherent states and intertwining operators
2009
In this paper we discuss a general strategy to construct vector coherent states of the Gazeau-Klauder type and we use them to built up examples of isospectral hamiltonians. For that we use a general strategy recently proposed by the author and which extends well known facts on intertwining operators. We also discuss the possibility of constructing non-isospectral hamiltonians with related eigenstates.
The rank of random regular digraphs of constant degree
2018
Abstract Let d be a (large) integer. Given n ≥ 2 d , let A n be the adjacency matrix of a random directed d -regular graph on n vertices, with the uniform distribution. We show that the rank of A n is at least n − 1 with probability going to one as n grows to infinity. The proof combines the well known method of simple switchings and a recent result of the authors on delocalization of eigenvectors of A n .
