Mode-coupling theory for multiple decay channels
2013
We investigate the properties of a class of mode-coupling equations for the glass transition where the density mode decays into multiple relaxation channels. We prove the existence and uniqueness of the solutions for Newtonian as well as Brownian dynamics and demonstrate that they fulfill the requirements of correlation functions, in the latter case the solutions are purely relaxational. Furthermore, we construct an effective mode-coupling functional which allows to map the theory to the case of a single decay channel, such that the covariance principle found for the mode-coupling theory for simple liquids is properly generalized. This in turn allows establishing the maximum theorem stating…
Local porosity theory for electrical and hydrodynamical transport through porous media
1993
The current status of local porosity theory for transport in porous media is briefly reviewed. Local porosity theory provides a simple and general method for the geometric characterization of stochastic geometries with correlated disorder. Combining this geometric characterization with effective medium theory allows for the first time to understand a large variety of electrical and hydrodynamical flow experiments on porous rocks from a single unified theoretical framework. Rather than reproducing or rephrasing the original results the present review attempts instead to place local porosity theory within the context of other current developments in theory and experiment.
Coupled Susy, pseudo-bosons and a deformed su(1, 1) Lie algebra
2021
Abstract In a recent paper a pair of operators a and b satisfying the equations a † a = bb † + γ 1 and aa † = b † b + δ 1 , has been considered, and their nature of ladder operators has been deduced and analyzed. Here, motivated by the spreading interest in non self-adjoint operators in quantum mechanics, we extend this situation to a set of four operators, c, d, r and s, satisfying dc = rs + γ 1 and cd = sr + δ 1 , and we show that they are also ladder operators. We show their connection with biorthogonal families of vectors and with the so-called D -pseudo bosons. Some examples are discussed.
Surface free energy of the open XXZ spin-1/2 chain
2012
We study the boundary free energy of the XXZ spin-$\tf{1}{2}$ chain subject to diagonal boundary fields. We first show that the representation for its finite Trotter number approximant obtained by Bortz, Frahm and G\"{o}hmann is related to the partition function of the six-vertex model with reflecting ends. Building on the Tsuchiya determinant representation for the latter quantity we are able to take the infinite Trotter number limit. This yields a representation for the surface free energy which involves the solution of the non-linear integral equation that governs the thermodynamics of the XXZ spin-1/2 chain subject to periodic boundary conditions. We show that this integral representati…
A criterion for entanglement in two two-level systems
2007
We prove a necessary and sufficient condition for the occurrence of entanglement in two two-level systems, simple enough to be of experimental interest. Our results are illustrated in the context of a spin star system analyzing the exact entanglement evolution of the central couple of spins.
On form-factor expansions for the XXZ chain in the massive regime
2014
We study the large-volume-$L$ limit of form factors of the longitudinal spin operators for the XXZ spin-$1/2$ chain in the massive regime. We find that the individual form factors decay as $L^{-n}$, $n$ being an even integer counting the number of physical excitations -- the holes -- that constitute the excited state. Our expression allows us to derive the form-factor expansion of two-point spin-spin correlation functions in the thermodynamic limit $L\rightarrow +\infty$. The staggered magnetisation appears naturally as the first term in this expansion. We show that all other contributions to the two-point correlation function are exponentially small in the large-distance regime.
Coupling theory for counterion distributions based in Tsallis statistics
2003
It is well known that the Poisson-Boltzmann (PB) equation yields the exact counterion density around charged objects in the weak coupling limit. In this paper we generalize the PB approach to account for coupling of arbitrary strength by making use of Tsallis q-exponential distributions. Both the weak coupling and the strong coupling limits are reproduced. For arbitrary coupling we also provide simple analytical expressions which are compared to recent Monte Carlo simulations by A. G. Moreira and R. R. Netz [Europhys. Lett. 52 (2000) 705]. Excellent agreement with these is obtained.

In this paper, we study derivations of the (2, n, 1)-nilpotent Lie Algebra
Gabor-like systems in ${cal L}^2({bf R}^d)$ and extensions to wavelets
2008
In this paper we show how to construct a certain class of orthonormal bases in starting from one or more Gabor orthonormal bases in . Each such basis can be obtained acting on a single function with a set of unitary operators which operate as translation and modulation operators in suitable variables. The same procedure is also extended to frames and wavelets. Many examples are discussed.
Gibbs states defined by biorthogonal sequences
2016
Motivated by the growing interest on PT-quantum mechanics, in this paper we discuss some facts on generalized Gibbs states and on their related KMS-like conditions. To achieve this, we first consider some useful connections between similar (Hamiltonian) operators and we propose some extended version of the Heisenberg algebraic dynamics, deducing some of their properties, useful for our purposes.
