Adaptive Vocabulary Learning Environment for Late Talkers

The main aim of this research is to provide children who have an early language delay with an adaptive way to train their vocabulary taking into account individuality of the learner. The suggested system is a mobile game-based learning environment which provides simple tasks where the learner chooses a picture that corresponds to a played back sound from multiple pictures presented on the screen. Our basic assumption is that the more similar the concepts (in our case, words) are, the harder the recognition task is. If abstraction makes mathematics strong, it often makes it also hard to learn, if not discouraging. If math pedagogy suffers from the lack of engaging strategies, the pedagogy of mathematical music theory must deal with the additional difficulty of double fields and double vocabulary. However, games and interdisciplinary references in a STEAM framework can help the learner break down complex concepts into essential ideas, and gain interest and motivation to approach advanced topics. Accurate molecular geometries of the protonated water dimer

The equilibrium geometry of the protonated water dimer, H5O2+, was studied using Moller–Plesset perturbation theory and coupled-cluster theory. Constrained geometry optimizations were carried out for the C2 and Cs symmetric structures within the counterpoise framework and near the limit of a complete basis set. In the constrained optimization, the degrees of freedom of the complex are reduced to an intrafragmental distortion and an interfragmental coordinate, making the procedure tractable for large basis sets and explicitly correlated linear r12 methods. The energy of the stationary point of C2 symmetry was found to be 1.2 kJ mol−1 below the energy of the Cs structure.
New-stage discharge relationship for weirs of finite crest lenght

AbstractThe flow process of weirs of finite crest length is analyzed on the basis of the dimensional analysis and incomplete self-similarity theory. The crest length is incorporated in the functional stage-discharge relationship for weirs of finite crest length. The theoretically deduced stage-discharge formula was then calibrated using the experimental data compiled in this research. According to the current experimental data it is also concluded that the performance of the proposed stage-discharge formula is better than the previous dimensional stage-discharge formulae. OpenMolcas: From Source Code to Insight

In this article we describe the OpenMolcas environment and invite the computational chemistry community to collaborate. The open-source project already includes a large number of new developments realized during the transition from the commercial MOLCAS product to the open-source platform. Pseudodifferential operators of Beurling type and the wave front set

AbstractWe investigate the action of pseudodifferential operators of Beurling type on the wave front sets. More precisely, we show that these operators are microlocal, that is, preserve or reduce wave front sets. Some consequences on micro-hypoellipticity are derived.
COMPARISON OF EXPERIMENTS WITH WEIGHTED DISTRIBUTIONS

In this paper the standard statistical experiment in which a random sample is drawn from some distribution involving an unknown parameter θ is compared with experiments in which samples are obtained from different weighted versions of that distribution, so that the underlying probability of entering the sample is multiplied by some weight function. This comparison is carried out by means of the concepts of sufficiency and pairwise sufficiency as developed in Blackwell's theory of the comparison of statistical experiments. Many examples are presented which illustrate the wide variety of effects that weight functions can have on the information about θ.

In this paper we prove new results of irreducibility for Hurwitz spaces of coverings whose monodromy group is a Weyl group of type B_d and whose local monodromies are all reflections except two.
On the algebraic types of the Bel–Robinson tensor

The Bel-Robinson tensor is analyzed as a linear map on the space of the traceless symmetric tensors. This study leads to an algebraic classification that refines the usual Petrov-Bel classification of the Weyl tensor. The new classes correspond to degenerate type I space-times which have already been introduced in literature from another point of view. The Petrov-Bel types and the additional ones are intrinsically characterized in terms of the sole Bel-Robinson tensor, and an algorithm is proposed that enables the different classes to be distinguished. Results are presented that solve the problem of obtaining the Weyl tensor from the Bel-Robinson tensor in regular cases.
Relations between multi-resolution analysis and quantum mechanics

We discuss a procedure to construct multiresolution analyses (MRA) of L2 (R) starting from a given seed function h (s) which should satisfy some conditions. Our method, originally related to the quantum mechanical Hamiltonian of the fractional quantum Hall effect, is shown to be model independent. The role of a canonical map between certain canonically conjugate operators is discussed. This clarifies our previous procedure and makes much easier most of the original formulas, producing a convenient framework to produce examples of MRA. © 2005 American Institute of Physics.
