Città Autografica. Disegno e progetto per un dialogo tra generazioni è una iniziativa culturale promossa, organizzata e allestita da Grafite, associazione culturale con sede a Messina. The house represents not only the place of living, but also of exhibiting: we can consider it both a Thoreau-style refuge and a private London memory club, a world within a world. There are heterogeneous objects considered of value (sacred, secular, personal, collective) so much as to be transformed into a "collection". It is exhibited with the function of representation so that the personality and interests of the inhabitant are observed by visiting third parties, or to be enjoyed in the form of a private autobiography in a personal theater of memory between Giulio Camillo and Abi Warburg.

During the 16th Century the cabinet of antiquities of the Grimani family allows the Serenissima to show its cultural power in relation to classical art so as to be considered "altera Roma". The Patriarch Giovanni, a refined collector and cultured follower of Mannerist architecture, builds this room of wonders in which architecture and antiquities are integrated and enhanced by the scenographic taste that runs throughout the building. The collection, donated to the Republic of Venice in 1593, returns to the kunstkammer after 400 years thanks to an exhibition.
