The effects of methacholine and calcium deprivation on the release of the false transmitter, ?-methyladrenaline, from the isolated rabbit heart

1976

1. Anaesthetized rabbits were infused for 20 min with 85 μg · kg−1 · min−1 (±)-α-methyladrenaline. The hearts dissected 15 min after the infusion contained 1.49 μg/g α-methyladrenaline; the endogenous noradrenaline content was correspondingly decreased. 2. Hearts from α-methyladrenaline-infused animals were isolated with the right sympathetic nerves intact and perfused. Ventricular rate, right atrial and right ventricular tensions were recorded using the transverse method. 3. Electrical stimulation (10 Hz, 1 ms, 1 min) of sympathetic nerves, perfusion with the nicotinic drug, p-aminophenethyltrimethylammonium (PAPETA) or perfusion with 54 mM KCl (high K+) solution evoked an output of both α…

Humidity-Induced Grain Boundaries in MAPbI3 Perovskite Films

2016

Methylammonium lead halide perovskites (MAPbI3) are very sensitive to humid environments. We performed in situ scanning force microscopy and in situ X-ray diffraction measurements on MAPbI3 films to track changes in the film morphology and crystal structure upon repeated exposure to a high relative humidity environment (80%). We found that the appearance of monohydrate (MAPbI3·H2O) Bragg reflections coincided with the appearance of additional grain boundaries. Prolonging the exposure time to humidity induced more grain boundaries and steps in the MAPbI3 films, and the peak intensities of the monohydrate MAPbI3·H2O increased. The monohydrate was not stable under dry atmosphere and could be r…

Preparation and evaluation of butyl acrylate-based monolithic columns for CEC using ammonium peroxodisulfate as a chemical initiator.

2008

Acrylate-ester-based monoliths for CEC using peroxodisulfate as a chemical initiator were prepared. The influence of two ternary porogenic solvents on the physical and chromatographic properties of butyl acrylate monolithic stationary phases was investigated. The composition and the ratio of porogenic solvent were adjusted to obtain highly permeable rigid monoliths with adequate column efficiency. Among the prepared butyl acrylate monoliths, those polymerized from a ternary porogenic solvent of acetonitrile/ethanol/water exhibited the most promising performance with a minimum plate height for naphthalene of 10.5 microm and a bed permeability of 7.3 x 10(-14) m(2). A comparison in terms of e…

V-containing ZrO 2 inorganic yellow nano-pigments prepared by hydrothermal approach

2017

Abstract Recent results on the preparation, characterization and color properties of the V-containing ZrO 2 inorganic yellow nano-pigment are reported. A series of monoclinic V-ZrO 2 solid solution nanocrystals (V x Zr 1-x O 2 , being x = 0, 0.1, 0.02, 0.03, 0.04, 0.05, 0.065, 0.08 and 0.1) were prepared straightforward by hydrothermal processing of mixtures of zirconyl nitrate and ammonium metavanadate in water. Interestingly, the crystalline precipitated obtained by hydrothermal processing at 140 °C for 3 d was almost entirely V-containing ZrO 2 nanocrystals with the structure of monoclinic zirconia for the whole range of compositions. Lattice parameters changes along the series of prepar…

Dynamical heterogeneities of rotational motion in room temperature ionic liquids evidenced by molecular dynamics simulations

2018

Room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) have been shown to exhibit spatial heterogeneity or structural heterogeneity in the sense that they form hydrophobic and ionic domains. Yet studies of the relationship between this structural heterogeneity and the ∼picosecond motion of the molecular constituents remain limited. In order to obtain insight into the time scales relevant to this structural heterogeneity, we perform molecular dynamics simulations of a series of RTILs. To investigate the relationship between the structures, i.e., the presence of hydrophobic and ionic domains, and the dynamics, we gradually increase the size of the hydrophobic part of the cation from ethylammonium nitrate (EA…

The first operating thermolytic reverse electrodialysis heat engine

2020

Abstract Thermolytic reverse electrodialysis heat engine (t-RED HE) has been recently proposed as a technology for converting low-temperature waste heat into electricity. The construction and operation of the first world lab-scale prototype unit are reported. The system consists of: (i) a reverse electrodialysis unit where, the concentration gradient between two solutions of thermolytic salts is converted into electricity and (ii) a thermally-driven regeneration unit where low-temperature heat is used to restore the initial conditions of the two feed streams. Regeneration is based on a degradation process of salts into gaseous ammonia and carbon dioxide, which can be removed almost entirely…

Recombination in Perovskite Solar Cells

2017

Trap-assisted recombination, despite being lower as compared with traditional inorganic solar cells, is still the dominant recombination mechanism in perovskite solar cells (PSCs) and limits their efficiency. We investigate the attributes of the primary trap assisted recombination channels (grain boundaries and interfaces) and their correlation to defect ions in PSCs. We achieve this by using a validated device model to fit the simulations to the experimental data of efficient vacuum-deposited p-i-n and n-i-p CH3NH3PbI3 solar cells, including the light intensity dependence of the open circuit voltage and fill factor. We find that, despite the presence of traps at interfaces and grain bounda…

A novel supramolecular assembly in an iron(III) compound exhibiting magnetic ordering at 70 K

2004

Ethyl-substituted ammonium cation allows the preparation of an unprecedented oxo- and oxalato-bridged supramolecular three-dimensional network. The compound exhibits magnetic ordering with Tc = 70 K due to a weak spin canting. Julve Olcina, Miguel, Miguel.Julve@uv.es ; Lloret Pastor, Francisco, Francisco.Lloret@uv.es

Phase Composition and Nanoporous Structure of Core and Surface in the Modified Granules of NH4NO3

2018

The article deals with the study of phase composition and crystal nanoporous structure of core and surface layer of porous ammonium nitrate (PAN). The research results, presented in the article, show that the proposed way to generate PAN allows to provide the granule porous structure without changing of its phase composition. The crystal structure of granules after the humidification and heat treatment has some changes due to the increase of the number of pores. The change of crystal structure, in turn, allows to open access to nanopores that are located in the volume of granules. This allows to increase the holding capacity indicator of granules. An important result of conducted researches…
