Differences in kinematic and match-play demands between elite winning and losing wheelchair padel players

We aimed to compare the match-play and kinematic demands of the translation and rotation movements of elite wheelchair padel players as a function of match results. Twenty-two elite male players were video-analysed with a two-dimensional direct linear transformation (DLT) -corrected video system across seven matches of a professional tournament. Distance, turns, changes of direction, linear and angular speed, acceleration and the players’ heart rate (HR) were recorded. AIMS/HYPOTHESIS: The aim of this study was to examine the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic on the hospitalization rates for diabetic foot ulcer (DFU), osteomyelitis and lower limb revascularization procedure in people with DFU. METHODS: This nationwide retrospective cohort study included hospital data on all people hospitalized in France for diabetes in weeks 2-43 in 2020, including the COVID-19 lockdown period, compared to same period in 2019. RESULTS: The number of hospitalizations for DFU decreased significantly in weeks 12-19 (during the lockdown) (p < 10-4 ). The “Jacobsen Flap” for the Treatment of Stages III–IV Dupuytren’s Disease: A Review of 98 Cases

The treatment of severe Dupuytren’s disease of the little finger is controversial: several techniques have been described with variable reported results and postoperative complications. This paper reviews 98 cases that underwent surgery between 2001 and 2006 using the Jacobsen flap procedure, a modification of the McCash technique. We found this technique relatively simple and it allowed significant correction of the contracture, with a low rate of complication. We believe this is an excellent alternative to dermofasciectomy or amputation.

Homicide with post mortem dismemberment of the victim with previous amputation of right lower limb: Case report and review of the literature

The dismemberment of a corpse is comparatively rare in forensic medicine and usually performed with different types of sharp tools. The victim is always the victim of a homicide. Dismemberment usually occurs where the killing took place without prior planning by the perpetrator. We report a case of homicide with post mortem mutilation of the victim’s body with previous amputation of right lower limb in which the perpetrator was not identified. At autopsy, several fractures were detected on the cranial vault, and the cause of death was due to skull and brain injuries from multiple blunt force traumas.
Three-year (2017-2019) activity report of the Replantation Service for hand amputations in Poland

W pracy przedstawiono podsumowanie działalności Serwisu Replantacyjnego dla amputacji rąk w Polsce w latach 2017-2019. W analizowanym okresie, do Serwisu zgłoszono 551 przypadków amputacji i innych rozległych urazów kończyn górnych, z czego 330 zaakceptowano do operacji, a w 221 przypadkach, z różnych powodów odmówiono przyjęcia. Wśród 330 przyjętych było 165 (50%) amputacji całkowitych, 131 (40%) prawie całkowitych i 34 (10%) inne, ciężkie, zagrażające utratą kończyny urazy. W przeważającej liczbie ofiarami byli mężczyźni w młodym i średnim wieku. Najwięcej było amputacji kilku palców i kciuków - 251 (76%), następnie amputacji na poziomie śródręcza - 30 (9%), przedramienia - 23 (7%) i nadg…
