La musicoterapia nella Grecia antica

Music in ancient Greece was believed to heal both the soul and the body, and especially to soothe wrath and low spirits. According to the ethos theory, music has a prominent role in the education of the young people. With both its medical and magic connotations, the notion of musical catharsis is involved in the performance of music and dance in the Dionysiac rites. The medical thought on music therapy is mainly linked with theories concerning the pulse, where musicology and medicine share a common ground.

What do we mean when we talk about the “intelligence” of robots? In what sense does a robot “reason” and “take decisions”? Answering these questions can give food for thought towards understanding whether there is either something so specific in human beings that cannot be reproduced in robots, or—as an alternative—the way to improve robots in emulating human behavior. In the following pages I will try to give my contribution by shedding light on some characteristics concerning human reasoning and rationality, mainly referring to the ancient Greek philosophical tradition.

Nel mondo greco, la mescolanza etnica viene considerata un vero problema solo quando i gruppi sono numerosamente consistenti. Le valutazioni e le forme di tale fenomeno variano nel tempo. In epoca classica il regime multietnico viene presentato come un rischio per l’unità dal punto di vista politico e militare della città che lo adotta. In periodo ellenistico-imperiale, la mescolanza di popoli è soprattutto sinonimo di alta conflittualità sociale pericolosa per la sussistenza stessa della città in quanto spazio di convivenza quotidiana.
